Chapter 1040: I'll Think About It
Joshua looked at him. "Where are we going?"
"Abroad, back to our turf. No worries there." Once abroad, Dermot wouldn't be a problem either.
Joshua was speechless. Brandon continued, "Right now, Ms. Kyte feels guilty towards you. We just need a reason, like saying treatment abroad is better, and get her to come. She might agree."
Brandon didn't care if Evelyn agreed. If she did, great. If not, he had ways to bring her along.
Brandon's idea tempted Joshua.
Going abroad, away from Dermot, he could be with Evelyn for a long time.
After a year or two, he could say the treatment worked, and he wouldn't need to keep pretending. By then, everything would be perfect.
But Joshua had concerns.
Having Evelyn take care of him was already against her will. Now, suddenly proposing to go abroad, she might not agree.
Seeing him silent, Brandon grew impatient. "Mr. Garcia, if you're worried Ms. Kyte won't agree, let me handle it..."
"Enough. I'll consider it. Don't take any action yet." Joshua understood Brandon but didn't want him to act against Evelyn.
"Are you sure?" Brandon asked, nervous.
Joshua nodded. "I'll consider it."
Brandon sighed in relief. Considering it was better than nothing.
As evening approached, Evelyn knocked on Joshua's study door. "Joshua, dinner's ready."
The door opened, and Joshua, in his wheelchair, smiled. "Already?"
"Yes, I'll push you down." Evelyn said, taking Brandon's place, pushing Joshua into the elevator and downstairs.
In the living room, Niall was helping serve dishes. Seeing them, he said nothing.
Joshua didn't mind. He turned to Brandon, "Go to the wine cellar and bring that bottle of Romanée-Conti."
"Okay." Brandon nodded, excited.
Joshua had won that bottle at an auction years ago. It had been aging, and Brandon had always wanted to open it. Now, he finally had the chance.
The group gathered around the dining table. This dinner was different—not at their home and with a few extra guests.
"The first glass should be for Aidan. Look at this table full of dishes, what hard work." Evelyn raised her glass to Aidan.
The others agreed. Joshua added, "Sorry for inviting you over and then asking you to cook."
Joshua should have cooked, but he couldn't in his current state.
"No problem; we're all family." Although he didn't want to say that, he didn't want to spoil the mood.
Everyone raised their glasses for a toast. As they sipped their wine, smiles spread across their faces.
Aidan glanced at the bottle and chuckled, "Good wine."
"As long as everyone enjoys it," Joshua replied. He had always wanted to save this bottle to share with Evelyn. Even with extra guests, it was worth it.
Brandon, feeling proud, thought, 'Of course it's good wine—it cost a million dollars.'
