Chapter 843 Who Said You Could Leave?
With Jennifer's reminder, Evelyn knew that she couldn't afford to underestimate Peter.
"Peter's no fool. If he sees you with me, do you think he'd still make a move?" Evelyn said.
"Relax, I'll keep an eye on you from the shadows. Just so you know, someone else will be running the bar for now. Don't think I'm slacking off," Jennifer said, sticking out her tongue playfully. She was looking forward to a few days off.
She used to love hanging out at the bar, but ever since it became her workplace, the place had lost its appeal for her.
"Do as you wish then," Evelyn replied with a nod.
With that, the decision was made. Evelyn left the bar and headed back to the Kyte Manor.
Meanwhile, at Wade's villa, he came home after dealing with the online rumors, only to find Lucia packing her suitcase instead of making dinner.
"You're back," Lucia said, her feelings a mix of emotions she couldn't quite describe, but none of them good.
She could have left earlier, but she couldn't bring herself to do it without saying goodbye.
Initially, she got close to Wade because he was part of the Allen family, not out of affection. But over time, she realized she had genuinely fallen for him.
Still, nothing would change. Wade could never love her.
She had known for a while that Wade was seeing someone else, but he never asked her to leave. She secretly hoped he might have some feelings for her.
But after today's news, she realized Wade's heart was always with Evelyn. Keeping her around was probably just to torment her.
She couldn't stay any longer. She used to worry about Wade breaking off their engagement and being left with nowhere to go.
But now, the engagement was already over, and Evelyn had inherited the Kyte family. There was no place for her anymore. All she could do was leave Golombia.
Coincidentally, Dora had recently contacted her, asking Lucia to leave with her and start a new life abroad.
Lucia thought it was a good idea. She couldn't go on like this forever; it was time to leave.
Wade had no idea Lucia had thought so much in those brief two minutes. He just looked at the empty dining table and then at her suitcase, frowning. "Are you planning to leave?"
"Yes, our engagement is over. I have no reason to stay," Lucia said with a bitter smile. "Besides, if you meet someone you like, they might overthink if they know I'm still here."
"Overthink what? That I like you?" Wade sneered, his mockery clear.
Lucia held back her tears. "I know you don't like me, but others might misunderstand and it could affect you negatively."
"You're quite considerate. Should I thank you?" Wade laughed coldly, his tone and gaze icy.
Lucia opened her mouth but decided not to say more. "Then I'll go. Take care."
She pulled her suitcase and walked towards the door.
But before she could reach it, Wade grabbed her. "Who said you could leave?"
"What do you mean?" Lucia looked at her restrained wrist, eyes wide with shock and disbelief.
