Chapter 986: Use Your Eyes to See
Evelyn felt stuck. Niall didn't seem to take Lily's past actions seriously at all.
She tried to stay calm and said, "Niall, some things can be forgiven, but character matters."
"Evelyn, are you trying to get me to break up with Lily too?" Niall's tone turned cold, losing its usual warmth.
Evelyn realized why Aidan clashed with Niall. His stubbornness could really get under anyone's skin.
But she was prepared for this. "Actually, I just wanted to know what happened between you and Aidan," she asked calmly.
"Not much, it'll blow over soon." Niall's expression softened a bit when he realized she wasn't pushing for a breakup.
Still, mentioning Aidan reminded him of their argument.
After leaving, Niall regretted his harsh words but couldn't bring himself to apologize.
Evelyn didn't press further. "That's good. I was just worried about you and Aidan. He really cares about you, you know."
"Evelyn."
She continued, "I get you're upset, but if he wasn't your brother, would he even care?"
They all knew Aidan wasn't one to meddle.
Niall sighed, "I know, but I really like Lily and don't care about her past."
"You can overlook the past, but make sure she's really changed," Evelyn advised.
Niall nodded, "She has changed. I believe she loves me now."
"Don't just go by gut feeling; trust your observations," Evelyn reminded him.
"I know; I'll be careful." Evelyn felt she had done enough. If Niall paid attention to Lily's behavior, he'd notice any red flags.
If Lily acted up, Niall would see it. If she was genuine, Evelyn wouldn't interfere.
Evelyn suggested, "Head back. If you're free, I'll set up a dinner with you and Aidan soon."
Niall understood she wanted him to apologize to Aidan.
"What if Aidan still wants me to break up with Lily?" he asked.
"Don't worry, Aidan won't push for that with me around," Evelyn assured him.
Niall felt relieved. Despite his claims, he did care about Aidan's opinion.
If Aidan was willing to change his mind, Niall would apologize.
