Chapter 217 He's Your Brother, Not Your Boyfriend

After saying this, Phoebe walked away. Evelyn glanced at Aidan, well, it looked even worse than before.

"Aidan, don't you often tell me not to generalize?" Evelyn was silent for a moment.

"Maybe the Irvine family is indeed unlikeable, but that doesn't mean that everyone inside is the same. At least from what I see, Phoebe seems okay." Aidan remained silent, lost in thoughts, staring in the direction Phoebe had left for a long time before snapping out of it when Evelyn called his name again.

"Aidan?" Evelyn called out to him, bringing him back to reality.

Once he recovered himself, Aidan looked at Evelyn and said, "You're just too naive. Do you think she approached me with ulterior motives and would wear them on her face?"

"Mr. Brooks, you're overthinking. Phoebe is just a little girl. It's fine if you don't like her, but it's rather excessive to make malicious assumptions like that," Dermot couldn't bear it any longer and spoke up.

He couldn't say that he had a good relationship with Phoebe himself, as they only had a few interactions thanks to Craig, but he could tell that she was just an innocent little girl and not someone with the kind of ulterior motives Aidan described.

"I was talking to Evelyn, Mr. Doyle. Don't you think it's impolite to interrupt?" Aidan looked at him, his hostility in his eyes undisguised.

Just as Dermot was about to respond, Evelyn timely interrupted them, saying, "Stop, stop, stop. It's okay if Aidan doesn't like Phoebe. There's no need to get angry over it."

Perhaps Aidan himself felt that his reaction just now was a bit excessive. After taking a deep breath, he managed to calm himself down. "Hmm, I'm not angry."

"If she comes looking for you again, just ignore her," Aidan instructed.

Evelyn nodded. "Okay."

For her, Phoebe was ultimately an outsider, so there was no need to argue with Aidan over an outsider.

The party continued, with Niall being the center of attention tonight. He was surrounded by everyone, toasting and drinking until his face turned red and he swayed unsteadily.

"Aidan, go help Niall handle the alcohol," Evelyn couldn't bear to watch and was genuinely worried that Niall might collapse at the party.

Aidan nodded and after telling Evelyn to take care of herself, he got up and headed towards Niall.

As for Dermot, he had ignored him from beginning to end.

Once they were far away, Evelyn couldn't help but look apologetically at Dermot. "Sorry, my brother's temper was a bit off earlier."

"Why are you apologizing for him? He's your brother, not your boyfriend," Dermot said in an annoyed tone.

Evelyn, "..."

"Evelyn, I'm sorry...” Dermot really wanted to slap himself. What was he saying earlier?

It was Aidan who had provoked him in the first place, so why did he take it out on Evelyn?

Evelyn didn't hold it against him and shook her head. "It's alright. I know you were standing up for Craig."

If she heard someone say such things about Ruby Kite, she would be angry too.

Ruby Kite...

Suddenly remembering her, Evelyn realized that tonight...

She didn't come.

She shouldn't have.

As Ruby Kite's good friend, knowing that Niall was her brother, there was no reason for her not to come.

Looking around, as she was about to confirm, Evelyn suddenly saw Ruby Kite's father and turned to Dermot, saying, "I have something to do."

"Alright, go ahead," Dermot didn't stop her.

Evelyn walked towards Ruby Kite's father and approached him, saying, "Mr. Kite."

"Evelyn," Richard nodded, "What's the matter? Why did you suddenly come to find me?"

"It's nothing. I just haven't seen Ruby. Did she come?" Evelyn asked, feeling nervous.
