Chapter 944: If Not Him, Then Who
Inside the box was a delicate, royal blue cufflink, a perfect match for Dermot.
Dermot's lips curved into a smile. "It's beautiful; you have great taste."
"Of course, who do you think picked it?" Evelyn said, a hint of pride in her eyes.
The moment she saw the cufflink, she knew it was perfect for Dermot and bought it without hesitation.
"Good night." Evelyn waved and turned to open the door.
"Good night."
Evelyn entered the room and closed the door. Dermot stood there, his smile widening as he looked at the cufflink, his gaze deep.
The next day, Evelyn went to the hospital and found out Natalie had been discharged. She overheard nurses saying Natalie's enemy had found her.
Curious, Evelyn listened in and learned a handsome man had come looking for Natalie. The description sounded familiar.
Thinking it over, the man sounded a lot like Joshua.
Even though it seemed unlikely, as Joshua had no reason to trouble Natalie, recent events made her question if she really knew him. She went to the surveillance room and saw the man who had entered Natalie's ward.
It was Joshua.
Evelyn felt uneasy.
Leaving the surveillance room, she called Aidan. "Aidan, do you know Joshua's true identity?"
She used to think Joshua was just an ordinary worker abroad, but now she doubted it.
What kind of worker has so many subordinates?
With Randy's words, Evelyn deduced the assailants targeting Gerald were probably linked to Joshua. While most were caught, Joshua still had many subordinates.
"True identity?" Aidan seemed puzzled. "What kind of identity could he have?"
"Oh, just asking." It seemed Aidan didn't know.
"Evelyn, what's going on?" Aidan had been busy with company matters and Niall and Lily's issues.
He didn't know whether to call Niall infatuated or Lily highly skilled. Even with obvious evidence, Niall still wouldn't give up, frustrating Aidan.
Evelyn didn't want him to worry and feared knowing too much would be dangerous. "Nothing much; are you busy lately?"
She quickly changed the subject, and luckily, Aidan didn't press further, talking casually about Niall and Lily.
"I'm worried Niall won't give up easily." He sighed, unsure how to persuade him.
Evelyn had no better solution. "Take it slow; he won't accept it right away."
"I'm just worried he'll still have feelings for Lily, despite knowing her true nature, and pursue a relationship with her." He didn't want to confront Niall, but Lily wasn't right for him, so he had to advise Niall to break up with her.
Both Evelyn and Aidan knew they could only advise, with no better solution.
After hanging up, Evelyn rubbed her temples, feeling overwhelmed by recent troubles, with hardly anything making her happy.
