Chapter 1011: Don't You Think You Are Too Selfish
"No, no, I can handle it later," Evelyn said quickly, feeling awkward.
But Joshua wasn't budging. "I'm already downstairs, and you're not inviting me up? Plus, you need to move your stuff. Can you do it alone?"
Evelyn had agreed to move in with him, which made Joshua happy. So, he showed up early to help her move.
Evelyn wanted to say she could manage, but Joshua was already there. She knew he wouldn't leave no matter what she said. "I'll come down to get you."
"No need, I have an assistant with me. Just tell me which floor you're on," Joshua insisted. Even in a wheelchair, he didn't want to trouble Evelyn to come down. He wasn't completely helpless.
Evelyn told Joshua her floor number. After hanging up, she looked nervously at Dermot across from her.
"Joshua's coming up. Maybe you should..." Evelyn started but couldn't finish. Dermot had made breakfast; how could she ask him to leave?
Dermot knew what she meant and had no plans to leave. "Why should I avoid him?"
"I'm just worried you two might clash." Both were important to her, and she didn't want any conflict.
Dermot sighed, "Evelyn, don't worry. As long as Joshua doesn't provoke me, I won't hold it against him."
Since Joshua had saved Evelyn, Dermot felt he could be somewhat tolerant, as long as Joshua didn't cause trouble.
"Alright then," Evelyn said, not pushing further. She had no reason to make Dermot leave.
Soon, the doorbell rang. Joshua appeared, and his smile vanished when he saw Dermot open the door.
"What are you doing here?" he asked, frowning.
Dermot chuckled and said casually, "I made breakfast for Evelyn. If I'd known you were coming, I would've made more."
He noticed Joshua's assistant holding breakfast too and almost laughed but held back for Evelyn's sake.
"Thanks, Mr. Doyle, but I've already eaten," Joshua said coldly, bypassing Dermot as his assistant pushed him into Evelyn's apartment.
"Joshua," Evelyn greeted him.
Joshua glanced at the dining table, confirming they had been having breakfast together. He felt uneasy but was glad he arrived in time. He didn't want them alone together.
"Evelyn, have you packed everything?" Joshua asked, glancing at Dermot. Seeing Dermot's sour expression improved his mood.
Evelyn didn't notice and answered honestly, "Yes, I've packed."
"Alright, let's go to my place early to see if we need to buy anything," Joshua said. Evelyn might be staying for a while, maybe even forever.
Evelyn nodded silently. But Dermot couldn't hold back.
He returned to the dining table and said mockingly, "Mr. Garcia, do you think this is fair to Evelyn? Isn't it selfish?"
"Dermot."
Evelyn tried to stop him, but Joshua spoke first. "I've told Evelyn that if she doesn't want to, I won't push her."
Joshua looked at Evelyn. "Evelyn, I'll ask one last time: do you want to move in? If not, I'll leave now. I won't pressure you just because I saved you."
"Saving you was my choice, and I did it willingly, knowing the consequences. I don't want you to feel unhappy."
