Chapter 1238: Do You Think He'll Agree

Cassie figured it was way too late for Leonard to get it now. She'd figured it out ages ago, which is why she was so into Dermot.

But now, she knew she couldn't be with someone as powerful as Dermot.

"So, what's the plan now? How can I help?" Cassie asked.

"I need you to find Dermot and beg him to let us off the hook. I swear I won't mess with him again," Leonard said, finally accepting he was no match for Dermot.

Cassie frowned. "Leonard, you really think he'll go for that?"

"Yeah, totally. You've been with him for years; he's gotta have some feelings for you. He'll agree," Leonard insisted.

Cassie wasn't buying it. "Leonard, you're the one who told me to face reality. Why can't you see it now?"

"If Dermot had any feelings for me, I wouldn't be in this mess," Cassie said with a bitter smile.

Leonard's face went blank. He knew Dermot didn't care about Cassie. Even if she threw herself at him, Dermot wouldn't give her a second look.

He slumped in his chair, staring at the pile of documents. "So, are we screwed?"

Cassie bit her lip. She knew what Leonard was thinking. They'd come so far from being orphans with nothing. Going back to square one now? That was worse than death.

After a moment, she gritted her teeth and decided to give it another shot. "Leonard, I'll go find Dermot, but you need to be ready. The Bush family might have to pay big time."

"Yeah, I get it." Leonard wasn't dumb. Even if Dermot let them go, the Bush family would never be the same.

After talking to Leonard, Cassie headed straight to the hospital.

At the hospital, it was the third day since Dermot had woken up. He could barely get out of bed, and Evelyn was already fully recovered.

At noon, while they were eating, Cassie knocked on the door.

Seeing her, Dermot stayed indifferent. Evelyn, on the other hand, was curious.

Cassie still had the guts to come to Dermot now? Didn't she know the mess the Bush family was in?

"Sorry, Dermot, didn't know you were eating. Am I interrupting?" Cassie said softly, her gaze toward Evelyn shifting from hostility to subtle flattery.

It seemed Cassie's reason for coming was different from what Evelyn thought.

Dermot glanced at her and said coldly, "If you know you're interrupting, then get out!"

In the past, Dermot had some feelings for Cassie.

Now he felt that just targeting the Bush family and not going after Cassie was already him being merciful.

"Sorry, I'll leave now!" Cassie was here to beg for help, so she didn't dare to offend them.

As she was about to leave, Evelyn thought it was unnecessary. "Since you're here, just tell us why you came."

Evelyn had already put down her fork, clearly losing her appetite.
