Chapter 760 Emerald Wants to Commit Suicide
Evelyn then left, not caring whether Emerald believed her or not.
Evelyn truly didn't care if Emerald appreciated her, so she didn't care if Emerald believed her. If Emerald was willing to spend some time inquiring at the hospital where she had stayed, it would be easy to find out.
But Evelyn couldn't be bothered with all that. Today was her discharge day, and she didn't want her mood to be affected by someone like Emerald.
Joshua came specifically to pick her up. Seeing him, she felt conflicted. "Where's Aidan? Why didn't he come to pick me up?" asked Evelyn.
"You know he's a workaholic," Joshua said with a smile, leading Evelyn out of the hospital.
If Aidan were here, he would probably be angry hearing Joshua say that.
Workaholic? It was clearly Joshua who didn't let Aidan come.
He said he wanted to have an opportunity to stay alone with Evelyn and that if Aidan came, it would ruin his chances. Aiden found it really infuriating.
But Aidan didn't insist on coming along. He knew that Joshua needed the opportunity; otherwise, Joshua might not have a chance with Evelyn.
Evelyn didn't know about their conversation. While Joshua went to get the car, she waited at the hospital entrance.
Suddenly, there was a cry from inside the hospital, "Someone's going to jump!"
Evelyn instinctively turned to look. Following everyone's gaze, she saw someone sitting on the rooftop of the hospital's inpatient building.
It was a bit far, so Evelyn couldn't clearly see the person's appearance, but she could vaguely make out the hairstyle.
She felt a sense of familiarity.
Suddenly, she thought of Emerald, whom she had just seen. It looked like Emerald's hairstyle.
Not caring whether it was Emerald or not, she quickly ran to the inpatient building and took the elevator to the top floor.
When Evelyn reached the rooftop, she saw Emerald sitting on the edge at once, and her heart started racing. She shouted, "Emerald! What are you doing?"
"What else can I do? I'm going to find Nathan." She only had Nathan as her only relative in this world. Now that Nathan was gone and she knew that Evelyn was the one who saved her, which made her hatred turn into gratitude. Finally, she felt that life was meaningless.
Evelyn never expected her to do something like this. She was both angry and anxious but tried to calm herself down. She tried to comfort Emerald, "Don't be impulsive. You're still so young and have a limitless future."
At this moment, the hospital had already called the police. Ambulances, police cars, and fire trucks were on their way.
But Emerald seemed determined to die. She stood up on the rooftop, and with just a small step, she could disappear from this world.
Evelyn's heart was pounding, and she tried to soothe her, "Emerald, don't be impulsive. Think about Nathan. He gave his life to save you. If you die like this, how can you face him?"
These words seemed to work. Emerald froze and didn't take the next step.
Seeing this, Evelyn continued talking while slowly moving closer.
"If you die like this, do you think you have the right to see Nathan? Your life isn't yours; it's Nathan's. How can you be so irresponsible?" Evelyn continued.
Emerald said through gritted teeth, "Shut up! If it weren't for you, Nathan wouldn't have died."
"If you really hate me that much, then avenge Nathan. Then why suicide?" At this moment, Evelyn hoped that Emerald would have some hatred towards her.
With hatred, Emerald would want to live.
Emerald gritted her teeth and glared at Evelyn. "If you really wanted me to avenge him, you shouldn't have told me everything."
'Now that you've told me you saved me, how can I hate you? How can I find someone to kill you?' thought Emerald.
