Chapter 418 You're Not Qualified to Mention Her

The meeting ended successfully, at least for Dermot. As for Benjamin...

Dermot glanced at the man sitting across from him and smirked inwardly. He doubted Benjamin had figured out how things had turned out this way.

But he didn't care. What did it matter to him? He truly didn't care.

With that thought in mind, he stood up, ready to leave. It was time to find Evelyn and clear everything up.

Of course, before that, he needed to issue a statement—a statement about breaking up with Lassie.

Yes, the cooperation they discussed during that dinner was just pretending to be in a romantic relationship. Dermot needed to make Benjamin let his guard down, while Lassie didn't want to be forced into dating by her parents.

So they both agreed, and then publicly announced that they were together.

Now he no longer needed to be on guard against Benjamin. No longer the chairman of the Doyle Group, he was destined to stir up no storms. And since that was the case, this fake relationship with Lassie should also come to an end.

"Why did you do this?" Benjamin couldn't hold back and finally asked as he saw Dermot preparing to leave.

He didn't understand. He was his father, what was wrong with him being the chairman?

Dermot found it laughable and looked down at him condescendingly. "Why? You should ask yourself what you've done."

"Do you still hate me?" Benjamin asked.

Dermot laughed and then looked sharply at him. "Are you even worthy?"

Benjamin's expression changed slightly as he stared at Dermot, pondering for a moment before speaking up. "Is it because of Evelyn?"

He believed Dermot hated him, but he shouldn't have gone to such lengths. The only reason would be because of Evelyn.

He was afraid that if he continued as the chairman, with power in his hands, he could harm Evelyn at any time. That's why he couldn't let him continue.

Dermot didn't deny it.

Benjamin laughed bitterly, stood up, and met Dermot's gaze, a hint of resentment in his eyes. "I forced you to break up with her for your own good. What does that woman want? What kind of help can she bring you?"

"And when you left with that woman back then, was it because she could provide you with help?" Dermot smiled without anger, finding this person extremely laughable.

Abandoning his wife to be with a married woman, and now he was saying these things to him. Wasn't it ridiculous?

"You!" Benjamin was furious and raised his hand to slap Dermot.

Of course, Dermot wouldn't stand there waiting to be hit. He grabbed Benjamin's wrist forcefully and flung it away. "If you want to live the rest of your life in peace, it's best not to appear in front of me. Otherwise, don't blame me for settling all scores together!"

He felt he had been merciful enough. As long as Benjamin didn't appear before him, he wouldn't seek revenge.

This man had caused his mother's death, but even if Dermot wanted to kill him to pay for his mother's life, he knew he couldn't do it.

Since that was the case, it was best for them to never see each other again.

"I never expected that your mother would..."

"Shut up!"

Dermot became fierce and punched Benjamin in the face. "You're not qualified to mention her!"

"My mother was killed by you and that wretched woman. Don't think I've forgotten everything over these years."

"I won't harm you because I made a promise to Grandfather. I don't want him to lose another child in his old age, so as long as he's alive, I won't touch you. You better pray that Grandfather lives longer." With that, he left without looking back.

Benjamin was knocked down on the ground, watching Dermot's departing figure, his gaze cold and unfathomable, lost in his own thoughts.
