Chapter 143 She Is Special
More than just the police officer had this thought. Officer Rogers, who was standing outside the interrogation room witnessing the whole process, smiled and said, "This girl has some courage. No wonder you're so concerned."
Dermot looked at Evelyn inside the interrogation room and couldn't help but smile. "She is special."
She was Evelyn, his ex-wife, and the woman he knew the least.
"But you need to be prepared. Even if she is your person, this case is not easy to handle. the evidence is conclusive. If you can't find evidence to prove her innocence, she might go to court," Officer Rogers kindly reminded him.
Although Dermot had a special status in Moris City, everyone was equal in the eyes of the law. If Evelyn had killed someone, Dermot wouldn't be able to protect her.
Dermot understood this logic. "I believe in her."
"Okay, then find evidence when possible. This case has a lot of attention from above, and there is a lot of pressure from the Barns family. They won't give you much time."
"Alright." Dermot prepared to leave and took a few steps before turning back to Officer Rogers. "Take care of her for me."
"Don't worry, she will be fine with me."
Dermot left the police station while Evelyn continued to be interrogated.
After learning about this matter, Aidan and Niall hired a lawyer for Evelyn and came to see her. Once they saw that she was okay, they left to search for evidence.
Evelyn wasn't too worried. she didn't do anything, and she trusted Aidan and Niall's abilities to find evidence.
However, before they could find any evidence, the police produced another piece of evidence against Evelyn.
"This is Kenny's cellphone. It contains messages from you arranging to meet him at the hotel. We have reason to suspect that you premeditated his murder."
The difference in punishment between self-defense and intentional murder was vast.
Evelyn glanced at Kenny's cellphone and sneered inwardly. That person wanted to frame her.
Her preparations were thorough. She didn't even know Kenny's phone number, yet she was able to send him a text message?
"I didn't send the text message. Someone must have taken my phone and sent it after knocking me out to frame me," she explained, without panic or worry.
Outside the interrogation room, both Francis and Natalie heard her response. They had different expressions on their faces, but it was clear that their moods weren't good.
"She's just trying to defend!"
Francis shouted angrily, "If it's not her, then who could it be? she wanted to seduce my son, but in her frustration, she ended up killing him."
"Officer Rogers, you must give me an explanation on this matter when possible. Don't think that Dermot's support will make her untouchable. The Barns family has its own influence!"
Officer Rogers felt bitter in his heart. He couldn't afford to provoke these big families. "Rest assured, Mr. Zhao, we will enforce the law impartially. No one, including Dermot, can hinder our progress in the investigation."
In other words, not only will they not be influenced by Dermot, but they won't care about the Barns family either.

While the two were negotiating, Natalie was staring at Evelyn in the interrogation room. After a moment of contemplation, she said to Officer Rogers, "Officer Rogers, may I go in and talk to her?"
