To ease Evelyn's worries, Dermot mentioned a Nobel Prize winner as an example, which made everything easy to understand for her.
"How about the Kyte Group and Doyle Group set up the fund together? That way, it'll be bigger and help more people," Evelyn suggested. She thought the Kyte Group should be involved since it was her business, too. She appreciated Dermot's help and didn't want him to handle it alone.
Dermot was on board. "Sure, but think about how people might see this if it gets out."
Evelyn was puzzled. "What do you mean?"
"If the Kyte Group and Doyle Group suddenly start a fund together, people might think we're planning to team up. Some might even think our families are merging through marriage."
Given Dermot's past with Evelyn and Otis still being around her, misunderstandings were bound to happen.
Evelyn saw his point but didn't care much. "Do you mean the members of the Doyle family wouldn't agree?"
"Not necessarily. The key is whether you want to team up. If you do, no problem. If not, the Kyte Group shouldn't get involved. It could get tricky for you later."
Evelyn hadn't thought about teaming up with the Doyle Group. She wasn't in charge and didn't know if it was a good idea.
Suddenly, she asked, "How long until you take over the Doyle family?"
She was hesitant about teaming up because Randy still controlled the Doyle family. But if Dermot were in charge, she'd feel better.
"I'll speed things up," Dermot said, though he couldn't give a timeline. Getting Randy to hand over control wouldn't be easy.
"I believe in you," Evelyn said.
No matter what happened between them, she trusted Dermot's character. He wouldn't deceive her.
Dermot smiled, leaning in. "You trust me so much? Aren't you afraid I'll team up with Randy to trick you?"
"Would you?" Evelyn asked.
"No," Dermot replied without hesitation.
He might deceive anyone, but never Evelyn.
Evelyn smiled, her eyebrows arching. "Then there's nothing to worry about."
"Alright. You talk to the Kyte Group, and I'll arrange for someone to go negotiate and follow up," Dermot said.
Evelyn nodded but was worried. "Can we do it quickly? I'm afraid it'll delay her treatment." She meant Amelia.
Dermot agreed. "Okay, I'll speed it up."
Evelyn felt relieved and smiled. "Thank you."
"It's no big deal." Seeing her smile made Dermot happy as if nothing was more gratifying.
Evelyn couldn't handle his intense gaze and quickly changed the subject. "Do you think the Martin family's move was instigated Margaret's?"
Since Margaret and Dermot broke up, there had been no news about her, as if she had disappeared., but Evelyn knew someone as ambitious as Margaret wouldn't stay quiet. She'd definitely make a move.
