Chapter 754 Don't You Like Him Anymore?

Evelyn was momentarily stunned, then smiled, "That's fine. I don't need to stay in touch with Dermot anyway."
She put away her phone. It seemed she had no intention of removing Dermot from the blacklist.
Evelyn harbored some resentment. Just as Aidan had said, if Dermot had answered her call right away and noticed something was wrong, she might have been rescued earlier.
Then she wouldn't have been shot twice and forced to jump off a cliff.
Although she knew there was a river below the cliff, what if she hadn't escaped and died there? She wondered if Dermot would feel even a twinge of guilt.
Evelyn didn't know, nor did she care anymore.
"Joshua, could you get me a bottle of water? I'm a bit thirsty," Evelyn said sheepishly, looking at the person next to her.
Joshua nodded, then stood up and said, "Of course."
Joshua left the ward. He wasn't stupid; he knew Evelyn wanted to talk to Aidan alone.
After he left, Evelyn looked at Aidan in puzzle, "Aidan, why did you call him back?"
"What? You're not happy to see him back?" Aidan sat down by the bed. He was curious about Evelyn's current attitude towards Joshua.
"There's nothing to be happy about," Evelyn said flatly, showing no sign of happiness.
Aidan was slightly taken aback, thinking, 'Could it be that my good intentions had backfired?'
He paused and said, "I remember you liked Joshua when you were little. Don't you like him anymore?"
"You said it yourself, it was when I was little. How can you take those things seriously?" Back then, besides Aidan and Niall, Joshua was the only outsider around Evelyn. If she didn't like him, who else could she like?
Moreover, Joshua was handsome and kind to her at that time, so she naturally had a crush on him.
But over the years, Evelyn had matured and realized it wasn't real affection, just a youthful crush that faded with age.
Aidan felt a bit helpless. He had thought Evelyn still had some feelings for Joshua. He continued to say, "I brought him back mainly to help me manage the company. He is quite capable."
"If you brought him back for that, I have no objections. But if it's for anything else, you'd better give up early," Evelyn glanced at him as she said. Having grown up together, she could somewhat guess Aidan's intentions.
Aidan felt awkward, thinking ' She Is being too blunt. DOES she have to expose me so mercilessly?'
"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing," Aidan said.
Evelyn just nodded without speaking. Aidan couldn't help but say a few good words for Joshua, "Joshua told me he actually regrets rejecting your confession back then. He must have liked you too."
Evelyn was speechless so she said nothing.
"Alright, alright, I won't say anymore," Aidan waved his hand and stopped this topic, knowing Evelyn didn't want to hear it.
"I have to get back to work. Just got back, and there's a lot to do," he said, preparing to leave. Despite saying he would stop, he was still trying to create opportunities for Joshua.
Evelyn couldn't stop him and could only nod. She reminded Aidan, "Be careful. Who knows what those mercenaries will do before they leave."
The main issue was not knowing the Roberts family's intention. They spent a lot of money to get those mercenaries in, and it wasn't just to deal with her.
"Okay, I've arranged for people to watch over you, but still, be careful," Aidan said before leaving the hospital room.
