Chapter 927: You Worry Too Much
Evelyn sensed his determination and said, "Yeah, you should be polite to everyone. It's basic manners. You can't think you're better just because you're rich, right?"
She wasn't trying to convince Dermot. They had different upbringings, so their views naturally differed.
Dermot wasn't a bully; he was just indifferent to most people. Politeness wasn't on his radar.
Just as Evelyn was about to drop the subject, Dermot said, "Okay, I'll listen to you. I'll be polite to everyone from now on."
Evelyn was silent.
She looked at him. "Actually, it's not necessary."
"Anything else? Just tell me, and I'll work on it," Dermot said, looking sincere.
Evelyn was momentarily speechless. She finally said, "You don't have to change for me. Just be yourself."
If Dermot changed everything, would he still be Dermot?
"Since I know I have flaws, I should fix them. You're helping me by pointing them out, and I should be grateful," Dermot said.
Evelyn felt helpless and didn't know what to say.
She decided to change the subject. "It's late. You should go rest."
"Okay." Dermot nodded. But before leaving, he asked, "You don't like Joshua, right?"
Evelyn was puzzled. "Why are you asking? I thought I told you before."
"I just wanted to confirm." He was worried about Evelyn and Joshua spending more time together.
Evelyn rolled her eyes and pushed him out. "You're overthinking it."
Dermot looked at the closed door and wasn't too upset.
While he didn't get a clear answer, Evelyn's reaction made it obvious she didn't favor Joshua. He wouldn't let Joshua win.
He went home and actually rested early, as Evelyn suggested, instead of working late.
The next morning, Dermot brought breakfast to Evelyn as usual. After eating together, Dermot left for Doyle Manor, while Evelyn stayed home to rest. It was a rare Sunday off for her.
Lying on the sofa, she thought about how long it had been since she went shopping with Ruby, so she took out her phone to ask her out.
But Ruby didn't answer.
Since coming to Golombia, Ruby had been very busy and rarely contacted Evelyn, which worried her.
Could Ruby be working so hard to make the Kite family stronger than the Irvine family?
Evelyn sighed, thinking she'd call her again later.
What she didn't know was that just before she called, Ruby had met with Craig, but it didn't go well.
Just moments before Evelyn called, Ruby was grabbed and dragged into a van, her mouth covered. Her phone fell to the roadside, explaining why Evelyn's call went unanswered.
