Chapter 241 Phoebe Came to See Me
Aidan's villa, Evelyn had the passcode, so she walked right in.
In the living room, Niall and Aidan were both there. When they saw her, they had surprised expressions, but soon their faces showed different emotions.
Niall was happy, he got up and walked towards Evelyn, "Evelyn, why are you here so late? Don't tell me you're here to-"
"Evelyn, what's wrong?" Niall approached Evelyn, but his face didn't show much joy, and there was even a kind of unease in his heart.
Evelyn stopped, which made Niall sense that something was wrong. His expression became serious. "What's the matter? Did something happen?"
Evelyn and said to him, "Niall, please go back to your room and rest. I need to talk to Aidan about something."
Niall seemed to have thought of something, and his face became unpleasant. "Okay, let me know if there's anything."
he turned and went upstairs, giving Aidan a glare before leaving.
Aidan could only watch Niall leave. If earlier he was only guessing about the reason for Evelyn's visit, now he was almost certain.
Nial had disappeared into the living room, leaving only Aidan and Evelyn. The atmosphere became oppressive.
It wasn't known how much time had passed before Aidan mustered up the courage to speak. "Please have a seat. We can't stand and talk forever."
Evelyn still didn't say anything, but she walked over and sat down. She looked at the person who was so familiar, and her heart couldn't restrain the pain.
"Aidan," she started, her voice faint with a kind of sadness, "Phoebe came to see me."
As the words fell, Aidan unconsciously tightened his grip on the water glass. It was just as he had suspected.
"What did she say... is it true?" Evelyn couldn't hold back and asked. If she didn't clarify the situation, she was afraid she wouldn't be able to get a good night's sleep.
Aidan raised the water glass and took a sip before answering, "What did she say?"
"She said... you like me? Aidan, she's just making things up, right?" Evelyn still held a glimmer of hope, hoping that Aidan would say it was false. As long as he said it was false, Evelyn was willing to believe him.
However, she didn't receive the answer she wanted.
Aidan met her gaze and after an unknown amount of time, he slowly spoke, "It's true, Evelyn. I like you, not in a sibling kind of way."
Aidan had no intention of denying it.
Perhaps admitting it wasn't a bad thing. Afterward, he could openly pursue Evelyn, which was what he had always wanted, right?
But Evelyn's face turned gloomy because of his words, and her mood was visibly terrible. "Aidan, we're siblings, the closest family members. How could you..."
"Evelyn, we're not blood-related, are we? Why can't I like you?" He looked at Evelyn, his tone becoming forceful.
Evelyn rarely saw this side of Aidan. For some reason, she felt that the person was unfamiliar, as if she had never understood him.
She stopped, which made Aidan uneasy. "Evelyn, even though I like you, I don't want my feelings to cause you any trouble. That's why I have restrained myself all these years, making an effort to hide my feelings."
"I liked her, but I didn't want you to find out."
"If it weren't for Phoebe's big mouth you wouldn't have known, and I wouldn't have said it."
"So, you can rest assured, even if you know, so what? If you're not happy, I still won't overstep a bit, I'm still your Aidan."
Although he hoped Evelyn would give him a chance, Aidan knew very well that based on Evelyn's current behavior, giving him a chance would only make matters worse.
Evelyn's mood did not improve much as she listened to Aidan.
Is it still Aidan?
Can everything still be the same?
Evelyn asked in her heart, but denied it.
No, it can never be the same again.
She could no longer call him Aidan without any reservations like before...
