Chapter 736 You Are Really Generous
Lucia stood there. She bit her lip in grievance, wanting to cry but not daring to. So she just stood there in a daze, not speaking or leaving.
Wade grew even more annoyed for seeing her like this, even a bit angry. "What does the Roberts family have to do with you? They haven't done anything to help you."
"That's my family," Lucia retorted. Of course, it mattered. How could it not? They were among her few relatives.
Wade, however, was disdainful. "You consider them family, but do they think the same?"
Wade didn't believe that Walter and Eugene from the Roberts family thought that way. To them, Lucia and Dora were just tools. When they were useful, they were family; when not, Lucia and Dora would naturally be discarded.
Lucia didn't think that far. She nodded. "Of course, we are family."
Wade sneered, thinking she was beyond help.
He put down his knife and fork, glanced at her, and said, "Don't meddle in things that don't concern you, understand?"
"Mr. Allen." Lucia still wanted to try, but Wade didn't give her a chance. He turned and left the villa.
Watching him walk away, Lucia sighed. She had actually anticipated this outcome.
How could Wade spare the Roberts family because of her words? That was just wishful thinking.
During her days at Wade's villa, the thorns on Lucia had long been plucked one by one. Now, she no longer had that initial arrogance and had even become somewhat humble.
Perhaps the former Lucia would never have imagined she would become like this. But she couldn't blame anyone else; it was all her own doing.
At Golombia Hospital, Evelyn had only been working for a few days. Although she had started seeing patients, as she was a new doctor and not well-known in Golombia, not many people came to her for treatment.
But she didn't get discouraged. She had great confidence in her skills, so even if she didn't have patients now, she believed she would be famous for her skills sooner or later.
As it was time to get off work, Evelyn was just about to leave when Geoffrey stood at the door. "Evelyn, you said you'd treat me to a meal before. Don't go back on your word."
"Of course not; we can go now," Evelyn said awkwardly, thinking she should quickly get it over with. She didn't want Geoffrey to keep bothering her.
Geoffrey immediately nodded. "Alright, let's go."
As they walked through the hospital, Geoffrey followed behind Evelyn without asking what they would eat. To him, that wasn't important. What mattered was whether he could be alone with Evelyn.
However, when Evelyn led him to the cafeteria, he was still a bit stunned.
"This is where you're treating me to a meal?" He asked in disbelief.
Evelyn nodded as she took out her employee card. "Yes, pick whatever you want. It's on me."
Geoffrey fell silent.
'You are really generous.' thought Geoffrey.
"How about I treat you? I know a great restaurant near the hospital," He said, gritting his teeth and looking around at the crowded place. How could he be alone with Evelyn in such an environment?
Evelyn shook her head, already picking up a tray to get food. "Let's eat at the hospital. I think the food here is pretty good."
Evelyn could see through Geoffrey's intentions, so to avoid giving him any mistaken notion, she wouldn't go out to eat with him alone.
Once this meal was over, she didn't want to have any further entanglements with him.
Geoffrey had no choice but to eat in the cafeteria with Evelyn; he really had no appetite.
"Geoffrey, is this the woman you left me for?" Lisa sat down next to Geoffrey with her tray, and her eyes were fixed on Evelyn.
