Chapter 776 I Have a Clear Conscience

Margaret spoke righteously, leaving Evelyn momentarily speechless. After all, under normal circumstances, such a situation was not impossible.

If the patient was someone very important to the doctor, any incident during the surgery could make it difficult for the doctor to remain rational, naturally affecting the surgery's outcome.

But that didn't mean all doctors were like that; at least, Evelyn didn't think she was.

However, it wasn't surprising that Margaret would have such concerns.

Evelyn was silent for a moment, then said to Margaret, "Your concern is valid, but since you are not Dermot's wife, you cannot make decisions for him from a legal standpoint."

"You can go back and tell him your thoughts. If he shares the same concern, I can arrange for another doctor," Evelyn said sincerely, without any other implications.

But to Margaret, it sounded like Evelyn was mocking her. "Is Dr. Kyte mocking me for not marrying Dermot?"

"I didn't mean that." Evelyn was speechless; she had no such intention.

"Dr. Kyte, you and Dermot have been divorced for a long time. Is there any point in continuing such an entanglement?" Margaret was a bit angry, feeling that she had already been very polite today.

Upon hearing this, Evelyn's face darkened. "Ms. Martin, you are overthinking."

"Overthinking? Aren't you insisting on performing the surgery on Dermot because you hope he will regain his memory?" Margaret began to get angry, losing some of her rationality.

Evelyn looked at Margaret, no longer wanting to continue the conversation. It was impossible to reason with someone who had lost their rationality.

Evelyn pointed to the door, then said, "Ms. Martin, our conversation can end here."

"Evelyn!" Margaret was obviously dissatisfied, not getting the answer she wanted.

Evelyn, however, had no intention of continuing. "Ms. Martin, if you really want to make decisions for Dermot, then please bring the marriage certificate."

Before getting the certificate, Margaret had no right to interfere in any decisions Dermot made.

Margaret clearly understood the implication in Evelyn's words, and her face immediately turned ugly. "Evelyn! Are you sure you want to do this? Aren't you afraid of offending the Martin family?"

"As a doctor, I have a clear conscience. What is there to be afraid of?" Evelyn looked at her unwavering.

Margaret was stunned for a moment, then laughed. "What a clear conscience!"

With that, Margaret got up and left the clinic.

After Margaret left, Evelyn packed up her things to get off work. As for Margaret's threatening words, she didn't take them to heart.

Not to mention whether the Martin family would oppose the Kyte family because of Margaret, even if they did, Evelyn would not give up performing the surgery on Dermot.

In the evening, when Evelyn returned to the Kyte family, Blake was already there, along with someone who shouldn't have been there.

"Evelyn, you're back. I made your favorite dishes. Come and eat." Dora was busy in the kitchen, looking very domestic.

Evelyn ignored Dora and looked at Blake.

Blake shook his head at Evelyn, clearly indicating that he had no choice. He and Dora were not yet divorced, so he couldn't stop Dora from entering his home.

However, today's Dora was different from usual. As soon as she entered, she started caring for Blake, and now she was cooking in the kitchen, which was a big change from before.

Evelyn saw through Dora's intentions immediately and bluntly exposed her, "Dora, don't waste your energy. No matter what you do, Blake will divorce you."
