Chapter 169 Preparing for the Worst
Natalie felt like she shouldn't have come to see Evelyn today. If Evelyn remarried Dermot, what about her? But she couldn’t help to show off to Evelyn.
She had never hoped to marry Dermot in the first place. After all, the way he looked at her before seemed like he wanted to kill her, so she had almost given up. But she didn't expect Dermot to just let her go like that, especially when she saw the online rumors about them getting married still circulating. It raised hopes for her.
Dermot hadn't denied those rumors. Could it be that he was agreeing to their marriage? Could it be that Grandpa Doyle was afraid of ruining the reputation of the Doyle Group, so they forced Dermot to marry her?
Natalie didn't know the exact reason, but she felt that the current situation wasn't too bad. If Grandpa Doyle really forced Dermot to marry her, she felt that she would make it.
Thinking about all this, Natalie was excited.
However, Evelyn's mood wasn't as pleasant after Natalie left.
She had originally planned to cook a nice dinner for herself, but now she had lost her appetite completely, and she couldn't help but curse Dermot in her mind.

Just when she was feeling irritable, her phone rang, and it was Aidan calling her.
After explaining the current situation of the Barns family, he suddenly asked, "Dermot is going to marry Natalie, what do you... think?"
"What does it have to do with me? Why is everyone asking me about Dermot?" Why did everyone think she had something to do with Dermot? They didn't have any kind of relationship.
Upon hearing her response, Aidan inexplicably felt relieved, "After all, you were her ex-wife. I wanted to hear your opinion. Do you think he will marry Natalie?"
"Will they get married? Will he help the Barns family after getting married?" Evelyn knew Aidan's concern. It seemed that she was afraid Dermot would help the Barns family. After all, with Dermot's help, it would be almost impossible to bring down the Barns family.
After pondering for a moment, she finally spoke, "I'm not quite sure, but I need to be prepared for the worst."
Previously, Dermot didn't seem inclined to help the Barns family, but if they were truly getting married, how could he just stand by and watch the Barns family go bankrupt?
"Well, you're right," Aidan nodded. He wasn't discouraged either, considering the benefits he had received from the Barns family. Even if they gave up on their plans, it wouldn't be a loss.
After ending the call with Aidan, Evelyn couldn't help but open her phone and browse through the news related to Dermot. But she quickly felt that her behavior was strange, so she closed her phone without looking at anything.
Evelyn felt uncomfortable with herself at this moment, something she didn't like at all.
All of this was because of Dermot. She felt that she needed to keep away from that man.
In Dermot's office, Todd nervously knocked on the door and walked in. He didn't find it strange that his boss was still busy.
"Mr. Doyle," he said.
Dermot didn't look up. "What?"
"Francis called, asking when he can talk to you... about the marriage."
Todd felt that the Barns family was playing with fire. It was clear that their boss had no interest in Natalie, yet they were still trying to fuel rumors online. Did they think Mr. Doyle would marry Natalie? What were they thinking? Mr. Doyle was already being merciful by not taking action against the Barns family.
Dermot stopped and looked up at Todd, scoffing lightly. "Sure, I can personally visit them tomorrow."
"Huh?" Todd thought he misheard him. "You're going to the Barns family?"
What would people think if he went to the Barns family at this moment? They would probably assume Dermot was going to propose...
"Yes”, the man coldly laughed. Since Natalie wanted to marry him, Dermot couldn't let her down.
