Chapter 1186: I Hope You Don't Resent Her
Evelyn dropped the bowl and shot her dad a look that screamed, "Seriously?" "I've never seen her since I was a kid. Now you want me to call her mom? Yeah, that's not happening."
"I get it. Just don't hold it against her. When she left, it was 'cause I couldn't step up." If he had managed to keep Bella around, things might've been different.
Evelyn shrugged it off. "Neither of you should beat yourselves up. I had a good life in Tara Village. Plus, you got me all those tutors. I wouldn't be where I am without you."
Even though Blake never visited her, those tutors he hired meant a lot to Evelyn.
"That was my job." Blake felt the regret, but it was too late now.
Evelyn switched gears. "You should stay inside for now. Nathaniel might send someone. Security's tight at the villa, so just chill, and you'll be safe."
"Got it," Blake nodded. "But what about you? Aren't you in danger too?"
Bella never wanted to be with Nathaniel, and now with their daughter in the picture, she probably wants out even more. Nathaniel might target Evelyn first.
"It's cool; I got people watching my back." She could handle herself and had called Jennifer from Golombia to keep an eye on things.
With the two of them, danger was minimal.
Blake didn't push it and let Evelyn finish her breakfast in peace.
After breakfast, Evelyn bounced from the villa. She needed to dig into Nathaniel's businesses for any shady stuff.
So what if the Flores family ruled Seabrook City? The government could still take Nathaniel down.
But just as she rolled up to the Flores business, a sleek black sports car pulled up. A young dude hopped out, strutting over with a cocky grin. "Hey there, miss. Mind if I tag along?"
"Sure, why not?" Evelyn nodded.
"Awesome! How about some coffee?" Oscar suggested, pointing to his car.
Evelyn smiled and hopped in.
Oscar was feeling pretty smug. He thought Evelyn was some big deal, but she was just as easy to charm.
The Kyte family from Golombia? Just a bunch of posers, really.
Evelyn had no clue what he was thinking. If she did, she'd probably crack up. He was so naive, thinking Seabrook City was the whole world. Just 'cause he had some cash, he thought he could do anything. Hilarious.
The car stopped at a fancy coffee shop, and they walked in. Oscar, trying to flex, picked the priciest private room.
After they sat down, Oscar asked, "What's your name?"
"Oh? You don't know? I thought you did your homework." Evelyn smirked, resting her chin on her hand, looking at him like he was a joke.
Oscar's face twitched, trying to stay cool. "What do you mean?"
"Mr. Flores, this isn't fun." Evelyn grinned, took the coffee from the waiter, and sipped it casually.
Watching Oscar's face darken was pure entertainment for Evelyn.
