Chapter 1145: You Didn't Let Me Down

"Chill out, Bruce's got it covered. Everything's gonna be alright," Dermot said, trying to calm Evelyn down, and maybe himself too.

Evelyn decided to let it go and made a mental note to visit Henry more often so she wouldn't have any regrets later.

She couldn't help but think about her grandpa.

Even though he wasn't her real grandpa, Evelyn had mad love for him and was grateful she was there when he passed.

The plane touched down, and they hopped off, heading straight to the car Bruce had sent for them.

"Mr. Doyle, Ms. Kyte," Bruce greeted them, looking pretty stoked to see them back together.

When Bruce saw Evelyn, he felt all kinds of feels. He'd seen them split and thought they were done for. But turns out, their bond was stronger than he thought.

Dermot, clueless about Bruce's thoughts, asked, "Bruce, how's Grandpa doing? Is he okay?"

"He's been good lately. Lights up every time he hears you two are together," Bruce replied.

"What about the docs? What do they say?" Dermot pressed.

Bruce's face got serious. "Docs say Mr. Henry Doyle's condition is from overworking back in the day. He needs to chill now, but no one knows how long he's got."

Henry didn't have any major health issues; he was just old and had stressed too much when he was younger. Now it was catching up to him, leaving him worn out.

"Thanks for all you do," Dermot said, genuinely grateful to Bruce. If it weren't for Bruce, Dermot wouldn't have been able to go to Golombia without worrying.

Bruce smiled. "Mr. Dermot Doyle, you're too kind. I've been with Mr. Henry Doyle for ages. Honestly, he's like a brother to me."

Dermot had grown up with Bruce looking out for him, and their relationship was more like family than boss and employee.

Dermot didn't say anything more, but he kept his gratitude in his heart.

The car soon pulled up to Doyle Mansion. After Dermot went to Golombia, Henry had let go of many of the staff, leaving just a few to keep the place running, making it feel kinda empty.

"Mr. Henry Doyle said having too many people was unnecessary and asked me to let some go. The remaining staff is enough," Bruce explained, seeing Dermot's frown.

Dermot nodded, not saying much. Since it was Henry's call, he had no objections, just some worries.

They walked into the living room where Henry was sitting in a wheelchair. He could hardly stand anymore because of his health.

"Grandpa."

"Henry."

They both called out at the same time and walked over to him.

Henry's half-closed eyes opened, but his gaze wasn't as sharp as before. "Dermot, Evelyn, have a seat."

They sat on either side of Henry. "Grandpa, I brought Evelyn to see you."

They had decided to visit Moris City after Evelyn's sudden suggestion.

She said that now that they were together, they should let Henry know. He'd be super happy.

Dermot agreed, and they took the morning flight to Moris City.

"Good, very good," Henry nodded, then took both their hands. "Dermot, you haven't let me down."

He had always hoped that Dermot and Evelyn would end up together. He had worried that Dermot wouldn't be able to win Evelyn over, but now he realized he had underestimated his grandson.
