Chapter 224 The Matter Between Me and Ruby
At Craig's villa, as soon as Evelyn and her group arrived at the door, a bodyguard approached them. "Miss Evelyn, right?"
"Where's Craig?" Evelyn's face was not pleasant. Right now, she just wanted to know how Ruby Kite was doing.
"Mr. Irvine is waiting for you inside," the bodyguard answered, gesturing to take Evelyn inside.
Evelyn raised an eyebrow. It seemed that Craig had known she would come.
She didn't refuse and followed the bodyguard into the villa. She didn't know if Craig was too confident, because even Aidan and his people were allowed in as well.
The group, numbering around twenty, entered grandly, and they clearly didn't seem friendly.
In the villa's living room, Craig was drinking tea. When he saw Evelyn enter with the large group behind her, he felt somewhat amused and exasperated. "Isn't this going a bit too far? At least Dermot and I are friends, and speaking of which, I should call you sister-in-law."
Although he appeared more dominant than Dermot, it was actually Dermot who had authority over Aidan, so he called Evelyn sister-in-law because, in his opinion, it was only a matter of time before Evelyn and Dermot got together.
However, Evelyn frowned at his words, dissatisfied. "I don't care about your relationship with Dermot, and I don't want to care either. I came here today to take Ruby away. Where is she?"
Looking around, Evelyn did not see Ruby Kite, which made her worry a little.
"As for the matter between me and Ruby Kite, you don't need to interfere, right?" Craig smiled, but that smile looked unsettling no matter how you looked at it.
"If you two were normal boyfriend and girlfriend, then of course I wouldn't interfere, but are you? Is Ruby Kite your girlfriend?" She looked at Craig without any politeness.
Previously, Ruby Kite had told her that Craig was unwilling to acknowledge their relationship, which meant that until now, they didn't have any relationship at all.
Clearly, Evelyn's words hit a sore spot for Craig, and his gaze suddenly became unfriendly, as if he could kill at any moment.
Evelyn had no fear, and if he really made a move, she didn't think she would lose.
Just as the tension escalated, Dermot walked into the living room. "Craig! If you dare to hurt Evelyn, don't blame me for turning against you!"
Seeing him, Craig helplessly waved his hand. "Dermot, when did you see me hurt her? She's the one who wants to hurt me, isn't she?"
Dermot walked to Evelyn.
he said softly, "I'm sorry, I'm not..."
"Mr. Doyle, you don't need to apologize. Craig is your friend, so it's reasonable for you to help him," Evelyn said coldly, without even looking at him.
Upon hearing the words "Mr. Doyle," Dermot knew that his effort to improve their relationship was in vain. He stared at Craig with anger.
If it weren't for this asshole, things wouldn't have turned out this way between him and Evelyn!
As if understanding his thoughts, Craig spoke up, "Why are you blaming Dermot, Ms. Kyte? It has nothing to do with him."
"Where's Ruby?" Evelyn's tone was icy, clearly losing her patience.
"She's with me. Why should I give her to you?" Craig met her gaze, not even considering letting Ruby Kite go, even if Dermot arrived.
Evelyn clenched her fist unconsciously. "I'll ask one more time. Where's Ruby Kite?"
The atmosphere instantly turned icy as both sides stared each other down, neither willing to back down. Dermot, standing on the sidelines, could only feel a headache coming on.
"Let her go," he spoke up, looking at Craig. "What's the point of keeping her here like this?"
Evelyn breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that Craig would let Ruby Kite go if Dermot spoke up.
However, she was wrong. Craig glanced at Dermot and calmly said, "Sorry, Dermot, but I suddenly don't feel like letting her go anymore."
