Chapter 144 You Better Stay Alive and Well
Inside the interrogation room, Natalie looked at Evelyn sitting opposite her, and her lips curled up slightly, but she hid it and appeared sorrowful.
"Ms. Kyte, my brother was at fault last time, so I had him come to apologize to you. At that time, you said you forgave him, and I thought you forgave him. I didn't expect..."
She covered her face and sobbed in pain.
Evelyn didn't say anything, watching Natalie's performance.
"Even if he's guilty, you could have handed him over to the police. Why did you have to kill him? He was so young. How could you do such a thing?"
In Natalie, Evelyn seemed like a murderer, ignoring the lack of evidence and only doubting her as a suspect.
Evelyn leaned back in her chair and spoke after a long time, "The police haven't said that I'm a murderer. Why do you think I killed Kenny?"
"If it's not you, then who could it be? Your fingerprints were found on the murder weapon," Natalie questioned, her eyes turning red.
"Someone framed me. Miss Barns, aren't you curious who it could be? Perhaps it's an enemy of your Barns family?"
Natalie frowned, not understanding what Evelyn was trying to say.
Why does Lyn act so nonchalant when all the evidence points to her? Where does she get the confidence from?
"If Miss Barnes remains silent, can I reasonably suspect that she had a motive to kill?" She laughed, but her laughter did not reach her eyes.
"Nonsense!"
Natalie shouted angrily, but inside she started to feel a little anxious. "Kenny is my brother, how could I kill him? Don't stir up trouble!"
"I heard that your father favors males over females, and he has never valued you. He would rather give the company to that useless Kenny than to you. Can you honestly say you don't resent him?"
"Now that Kenny is dead, even if your father doesn't want to, he can only give the company to you, right?"
"You're the biggest winner."
If Natalie's scheme was successful, she would be able to get rid of both her and Kenny at once. It was quite a cunning plan.
Not only Natalie could hear Evelyn, but Francis and Officer Rogers outside the interrogation room could hear them. Both of them had serious expressions.
There was no other reason, just because Evelyn made sense!
Natalie was panicking. She even suspected if Evelyn knew everything, otherwise how could she say such things?
But she had not lost her sanity. As long as Evelyn had no evidence, everything was just speculation.
With a cold smile, she looked at Evelyn and said, "Humph, do you think you can escape your crimes by confusing the truth?"
"No one can escape the punishment of the law, not me, not Miss Barnes." Evelyn had a faint smile on her lips, as if she was the judge.
Natalie felt a bit uneasy and didn't want to continue the conversation with Evelyn. She was afraid that Evelyn would say more things that were unfavorable to her.
She stood up and sneered, "Denying the truth is useless. I look forward to the day of your sentencing."
"Well, you better stay alive and well, because someday, maybe you'll face judgement before me." Evelyn smiled which made Natalie furious.
As Natalie left the interrogation room, Evelyn glanced at her. After everyone had left, she looked up and glanced at the surveillance camera. Officer Rogers on the other side was watching attentively, and he was startled when he noticed Evelyn's gaze.
"She... does she know we're watching?" Officer Rogers murmured to, feeling more and more amazed by Evelyn.
