Chapter 354 What's It To Her?
That night, Evelyn slept well.
Despite the injury on her waist and occasional pain, it didn't affect her sleep. She slept peacefully until morning.
The next day, when Evelyn woke up, she habitually checked the news on her phone.
The Stanley family once again made headlines, but it wasn't for something good.
There had been ongoing internal conflicts within the Stanley family recently, and the sudden appearance of Lauren disrupted everything, leaving everyone overwhelmed, especially Natali.
However, Lauren knew that her father was already bending under the weight of old age, with gray hair and a stooping posture. She felt no sympathy for him, believing that he brought this upon himself. If he hadn't favored Oliver so much and indulged him without limits, she wouldn't have ended up with such a useless brother.
Her gaze then shifted towards Oliver and Natalie on the right, both of whom she coldly sneered at. She didn't consider them worthy of her attention.
Oliver was a waste, and as for Natalie's competence, so what? She was never truly part of the Stanley family and had no say in the Stanley Group. As long as she dealt with the old man in front of her, both the Stanley family and the Stanley Group would be under her control.
"Since you're here, take a seat," Mr. Stanley spoke, finally noticing the changed appearance of his daughter who had been away from home for years. She was no longer the easily deceived Lauren she used to be.
Without any politeness, Lauren sat down directly. "So, what did you call me back for?"
If it weren't for Mr. Stanley repeatedly calling her, she wouldn't have bothered coming to this place.
"Did you have something to do with Tim?" Mr. Stanley asked without beating around the bush.
Tim, the person Lauren had asked Evelyn to investigate, was arrested just yesterday for embezzlement in the interest of the Stanley Group.
Lauren nodded. "Yes, he embezzled funds and harmed the interests of the Stanley Group. Did I do something wrong?"
"It's not about whether you did something wrong," Mr. Stanley sighed. "We could have handled this privately. Why report it to the police? It would have been enough to make him return the money."
Now, not only did they have no money, but the Stanley Group was also trending, causing concern among the shareholders. What would they think?
"Do you think he has the money to return?" Lauren rolled her eyes, feeling that her father was truly becoming senile.
Mr. Stanley sighed, still persistent. "Even if he doesn't have the money, we can find a solution. There's no need to involve the police."
"You shouldn't have made such a big fuss about this. Have you ever thought about the impact it will have on the Stanley Group?"
"Just because there's an impact, we are supposed to let this person off?" Lauren disagreed.
Besides, she wanted the Stanley Group to be in chaos. The more chaotic, the better.
All these people, including Tim, were loyal to Mr. Stanley. If she didn't handle them, how could she insert her own people?
"Sis, how can you talk to Dad like this?" Oliver couldn't bear it anymore and stood up, accusing Lauren.
With a hint of resentment, he continued, "Everything was fine until you started fighting for inheritance rights. If it weren't for your interference, the Stanley family wouldn't be in such a mess now."
"Alright then, if you don't want the Stanley family to be in chaos, why don't you give up your position as the heir? That way, everyone will be satisfied. What do you think?" She smiled and looked at Oliver, waiting for his answer.
