Chapter 877 Mr. Doyle, You Are so Intelligent

Evelyn listened and gave him a thumbs-up. "Mr. Doyle, you're so intelligent."

"Evelyn, can you stop teasing me?" Dermot felt a bit embarrassed, worried she might think less of him.

The real issue was that if the Doyle family didn't act, Gerald would definitely keep fighting him for the inheritance. He had no choice.

Evelyn chuckled. "I'm not teasing you; I genuinely admire you. You're a natural businessman. The Doyle family is meant to be yours, and you'll lead it to greatness."

Even though the Doyle family looked prosperous, Evelyn sensed it wasn't as strong as it seemed. It was probably a house of cards. Otherwise, Randy wouldn't need to choose an heir this way. He must have noticed and was worried about the family's future.

Dermot didn't care much about that. What he cared about now was...

He looked at Evelyn and asked, "So, can you forgive me now? I didn't tell you before because I felt unworthy. If I had told you and you said, 'What does it have to do with me?' what would I do?"

That really sounded like something she would say.

Evelyn's eyes flashed with embarrassment but quickly disappeared. "It's the same now. You don't need my forgiveness because it has nothing to do with me."

Dermot felt a bit helpless. "Evelyn, how long are you going to test me?"

"Dermot, do you really want to be with me?" Evelyn suddenly asked.

Dermot nodded without hesitation, looking at her with sincere eyes. "Of course!"

"Then come talk to me when you learn to put your safety first. I don't want a boyfriend who could die at any moment." With all these concerns, marriage seemed to be beyond her consideration at the moment; otherwise, she might end up a widow in the future, wouldn't she?

Evelyn got up and left the room. Dermot leaned against the headboard and stayed silent for a long time.

She thought, 'Perhaps Evelyn's concern is justified.'

He'd always been a risk-taker. If not, he wouldn't have faced danger so many times, even seeking it out. It would make any woman feel insecure.

He sighed and muttered to himself, "I need to take control of the Doyle family as soon as possible."

He thought that once he controlled the Doyle family, he would be less likely to take risks and could give Evelyn a sense of security.

As he was thinking, the door opened again, but this time it was Joshua.

Joshua looked tired. He glanced at Dermot on the hospital bed with some resentment. "I think it would've been better if you had just told Evelyn everything from the start."

"What's wrong? Is the Doyle family investigating thoroughly?" Dermot asked.

Joshua had also been involved in the shooting of Gerald, which Dermot knew. He was in charge of the retreat. As long as they left the country before the Doyle family reacted, there shouldn't be much of a problem.

But judging by Joshua's current reaction, it seemed they hadn't succeeded.

Joshua sat down on a chair, looking a bit down. "Yeah, I underestimated the Doyle family. They acted quickly. My guys didn't even have time to leave the country before the Doyle family secured all the exit points. Now it's impossible to leave through official channels."

Even though they had worn masks and gloves, leaving almost no traces, Joshua still didn't dare to risk having his people try to leave. After all, they had followed him from abroad to here, and he still wanted them to go back safely.
