Chapter 1262: There Should Be Good News
The next day, even though Evelyn was now engaged to Dermot, it didn't really change much for her. She still headed to the hospital for work, just like any other day.
Maybe it was because Dermot had thrown more cash into the hospital, but they actually brought on a few more doctors. So, even without Evelyn squeezing in extra appointments, patients could still get seen.
Evelyn was pretty stoked about this and felt way more chill.
That evening, Blake hit her up with a call, letting her know they had finally nailed down a wedding date.
Three months from now. It was the only date that worked for her and Dermot this year.
Evelyn felt kinda meh about it; she knew the date they picked was probably way off from what they originally had in mind.
She mulled it over and then gave Dermot the lowdown.
Dermot took the news in stride. Three months was just enough time for the custom wedding dresses and rings he had designed to be ready.
"Evelyn, since we’ve got the date set, should we head back to Moris City to see my grandpa?" Dermot asked, looking a bit sheepish. They had just gotten back from Moris City a few days ago.
Evelyn didn’t see a reason to say no. "Yeah, you're right. We should go see Henry."
She felt she should personally go to her grandpa's grave to share the news.
This time was different from the last. Last time, she was just ticking off her grandpa's last wish, but now, she genuinely wanted to marry Dermot.
"Then in a couple of days, when you're not swamped at the hospital, we'll go," Dermot suggested.
Evelyn thought about it. With more doctors at the hospital now, she wasn’t as crucial. "How about we head back to Moris City tomorrow? Ever since you invested in the hospital, the director hasn’t really cared if I show up or not."
Sometimes she felt like her colleagues were walking on eggshells around her.
Evelyn knew why: everyone thought her status had changed. She used to be just a colleague, but now she was the boss's fiancée, so their attitude naturally shifted.
"I'm cool with it, but I don't want to mess up your work," Dermot said. He had plenty of free time now since the Doyle Group was stable, and Melissa could handle any issues that popped up.
Evelyn had previously suggested Dermot groom Jeffery and Melissa, which turned out to be a smart move.
While Jeffery wasn’t really cut out for this line of work, Melissa had a knack for it. She had become capable of managing tasks on her own, and Dermot had handed over a lot of the Doyle Group's operations to her, making his life a lot easier.
"Who’s gonna say I’m slacking off now?" Evelyn chuckled, a bit helplessly.
Dermot got what she meant and smiled apologetically. "Then it's a plan. I'll call Grandpa in a bit."
"Okay," Evelyn agreed.
After they hung up, Evelyn didn’t rush to leave. She still had a few patients to see before heading home.
In Moris City, Henry got a call from Dermot, learning that he and Evelyn would be coming back tomorrow, which put him in a much better mood.
"Bruce, go let everyone know to get ready. Dermot and Evelyn are coming back tomorrow," the old man ordered.
Bruce was surprised. "Mr. Dermot Doyle and Ms. Kyte are coming back?"
"Yep, they probably have some good news for me," Henry said, grinning. Dermot had already hinted about the proposal, but he didn’t know if Dermot had pulled it off.
Looks like Dermot had indeed popped the question successfully.
