Chapter 194 What Kind of Person Are You?

Evelyn was stunned, unable to react.

"Did you mean it when you said that if I managed to come out alive, you would give me a chance to pursue you?" the man asked.

Evelyn's face turned red, and she hesitated to look into Dermot's eyes.

Dermot couldn't help but feel disappointed, "I thought you were serious, but it turns out you were just teasing me."

Evelyn felt a bit guilty, "Of course I was serious."

"Really?"

"but it's just a chance, not a promise to be with you. What's there to be happy about?" she said, not knowing if she was saying it to Dermot or to.

But Dermot didn't mind. In his opinion, as long as Evelyn was willing to give him a chance, regardless of whether he could succeed or not, it at least meant that she didn't dislike him as much as before.

To him, this was a huge progress.

"You've been watching over me these past few days?" He had heard the conversation between Todd and Evelyn, and he was thrilled.

Evelyn would never admit it. She shook her head, "How could I watch over you? I still have so many patients."

Dermot didn't care about her denial. He knew the truth in his heart.

Evelyn didn't want to continue discussing this topic with him, so she changed the subject, "The rescue operation here is over. You can prepare to go back to Moris City."

"What about you?" Dermot asked.

"I still have
"I plan to stay for a few more days. many villagers are still injured, and the medical conditions here are limited. If I leave, they won't have a doctor." Evelyn said.

But that's not what saddens her the most. What troubles her is how the surviving villagers will live in the future.

All the houses were destroyed, and the villagers can either rebuild or leave this place. But regardless of their choice, it will be incredibly difficult for them, as they are impoverished.

Dermot noticed the compassion in her eyes. "Are you worried about them? Afraid that they won't be able to survive in the future?"

"Yes, the entire village is destroyed, the houses have collapsed, and they don't even have a place to live now." Evelyn sighed. Whenever this happens, she laments her own limitations, realizing that she can't help in many ways.

Dermot couldn't help but tease her, "Who would have thought that the great Dr. Kyte would be such a sentimental person?"

"What about you?" Evelyn retorted, "What kind of person are you?"

Dermot didn't answer. "The famous Mr. Doyle from Moris City, who would believe that he risked his life to save a few children?"

If she hadn't seen it with her own eyes, Evelyn wouldn't believe it either.

"I'm not that kind-hearted, it just happened," Dermot shrugged, unwilling to admit it.

Evelyn didn't care and was too lazy to argue with him. She turned around to leave the tent.

But Dermot spoke, "The Doyle Group has charity projects every year, and this year's project hasn't been decided yet. It can be used to rebuild Willowbrook."

Evelyn froze, not knowing what to say.

"You can choose to rebuild in the same location or relocate entirely. The Doyle Group will cover all the expenses," he said.

Evelyn's emotions became even more complex. The more she understood Dermot, the less he resembled the rumors about him.

"you don't have to do this..." Evelyn started to speak, unsure of what to say.

But Dermot stared at her and said unreservedly, "As long as you're happy, I'm willing to do anything."
