Chapter 687: Are You Interested in Inheriting the Family?

This question seemed heavy for Jeffery. Evelyn watched him remain silent for a long time before he slowly said, "Not really."

"Although Grandpa has called back many people of the Doyle family, the biggest threat is Dermot. Anyone can easily find out how capable he is."

"Grandpa praises him all the time. He just returned to the Doyle family and has already taken a position in the Doyle Group. No one had this privilege."

Despite his recent arrival at the company, Dermot had swiftly gained a position. It was evident to all that Randy held Dermot in high regard, causing considerable unease among the others.

As an observer, Evelyn could easily discern Randy's intentions. He was instructing his sons and grandsons to prioritize Dermot, as he believed Dermot was the key to their success. It had to be acknowledged that Randy was ruthless, without considering whether Dermot could handle the pressure.

"Even so, Dermot shouldn't pose that much of a threat to you guys, right?" After all, Jeffery and the others truly held power in the Doyle family, unlike Dermot.

smarter than me."

Evelyn was convinced that Randy's inclusion of Dermot in the Doyle Group was merely a gesture and that Dermot lacked any genuine authority. Within the Doyle family, Dermot likely held no sway, not even over a servant.

Jeffery nodded in agreement and confided in Evelyn, "To be honest, I'm indifferent. I'm only following my cousin Otis's lead, as he seems to have a strong interest in Dermot. Otis is far more intelligent than I am."

Otis, the eldest grandson of the Doyle family, and currently, the most likely to inherit the Doyle family is Gerald Doyle, Otis's father.

"However, I now think Otis might be right. Look, in just a few days, Dermot has already connected with the Martin family. This alone shows how formidable Dermot is," Jeffery said with a serious expression.

Evelyn reached out and patted his head, "So young, yet trying to act all mature. How unattractive!"

"You dare to pat me?" Jeffery touched his head and felt furious.

"So what if I pat you? You're just a kid," Evelyn rolled her eyes at him. Jeffery was just an overgrown child.

Although he always tried to appear mature and sophisticated, he was still a child, and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't pull it off.

"Just you wait, I'll get my sister to deal with you," Jeffery said, already getting up as if to go tattle.

Evelyn smiled calmly at him, not the least bit flustered. Jeffery, seeing her look at him like that, felt a bit embarrassed, "Forget it, I'm too lazy to argue with you."

"Are you interested in inheriting the family?" Evelyn suddenly asked.

Jeffery shook his head, "No, I like painting. My dream is to be an artist."

"Then why compete with them? Just do what you want to do," Evelyn looked at Jeffery, speaking from her heart.

If there were anyone in the Kyte family who could inherit, she wouldn't take over.

But now, even if she had to inherit in the future, she wouldn't have to watch over it every day. She could still do what she loved, she had to endure for now.

Evelyn's statement left Jeffery speechless. He settled back down beside Evelyn, acknowledging, "It's not straightforward. Being born into the Doyle family entails an inherent expectation to compete."

"If I don't compete, and if Gerald ends up inheriting the Doyle family, our family will suffer terribly." Jeffery wasn't stupid. To survive, he had to compete. This was a truth he had understood since birth.
