Chapter 1136: Take the Money

Evelyn and Dermot shared a look. Dermot gave her a nod, basically saying, "I got your back, no matter what."

"Alright, let's all chill and find some middle ground," Evelyn started, eyeing Craig. "You know Aidan don't marry Phoebe, so let's just drop that idea."

Craig shot back, cold as ice, "So, what do you want then? Aidan's your brother, of course, you're gonna back him up."

"Yeah, he's my brother, but I can't make him do anything," Evelyn snapped, clearly annoyed. Craig's attitude was just making things worse.

Craig rolled his eyes. If Dermot wasn't there, he wouldn't even be talking to Evelyn.

"Aidan, even if this isn't your mess, it happened, and you gotta make it right somehow," Evelyn said, turning to Aidan. She really wanted to fix this and move on.

This whole thing was bad news for both Phoebe and Aidan.

Aidan didn't argue, just let Evelyn keep talking.

"You can't give emotional support, so you gotta cough up something else," Evelyn said.

Craig immediately jumped in, "Evelyn, what the hell? The Irvine family isn't broke. We're not here for his money."

The Irvine family had more cash than Aidan anyway.

"The Irvine family's money is their business. This is for Phoebe, and you don't get to say no for her," Evelyn shot back. She figured Phoebe wouldn't turn it down. Phoebe was tough, but she wasn't dumb.

When the baby came, there'd be a ton of expenses. Whether Aidan liked it or not, it was his kid, and he had to chip in.

Craig looked like he wanted to argue but held back.

"Fine, I agree," Aidan said, not even hesitating. He just wanted this over with. "If I give you the money, can you promise to leave me alone?"

"You..." Craig was about to blow up, but Dermot held him back.

Aidan wasn't scared of Craig. Worst case, they'd throw down again. "I don't care what you think; I don't believe her baby is mine."

He was willing to pay up partly out of respect for Evelyn and partly to end this mess fast.

Phoebe, hiding in the corner, felt her eyes well up, but she held back her tears.

She wasn't the same as before. Now she had to protect her baby and stay strong.

Evelyn was right; she should take Aidan's money.

Phoebe didn't care if Aidan believed her or not. She knew the baby was his, so she didn't feel bad taking his money.

"Alright, it's settled. Aidan will give a chunk of money, and this is done. Whatever happens next, we'll deal with it then," Evelyn wrapped it up. If Aidan saw the baby and had second thoughts, Phoebe would have the upper hand.

The room went quiet. Aidan quickly wrote a check, almost draining his account.

A whopping twenty million dollars. With that kind of cash, Phoebe could take care of the baby even without the Irvine family's help.

None of them were hurting for money, but they had to admit, this was a big deal for Aidan, a lesson he wouldn't forget.

From now on, Aidan probably wouldn't get wasted and let another woman come to him claiming she was carrying his baby.
