Chapter 71 Evelyn, just you wait

She touched Dermot's icy gaze, and understood that this man knew everything. No matter what she said, it was useless.

"That's right. I did it." After a long time, she sighed and spoke bitterly.

"Why? She saved your life." Dermot looked at her, his eyes no longer as gentle as before.

Cassie forced a bitter smile and looked up at Dermot. "Why? What do you think it could be?"

"Dermot, we've known each other for so many years. Don't you know I have a feeling for you?" She shouted.

The man frowned, displeased. "I remember telling you a long time ago that I only see you as a sister, no other feelings."

He thought Cassie understood, after all, she hadn't mentioned it since then.

But he didn't expect...

"Yes, you rejected me a long time ago." Cassie nodded, unable to smile. "But I love you. How can I give up?"

"Is that why you did it to her?" Dermot frowned again. "You should have come directly to me. What does she have to do with this?"

Cassie raised her hand and wiped away the tears that almost fell from the corners of her eyes. "Dermot, I know you too well. Although you won't admit it, I can tell that you feel differently about Dr. Kyte."

"But I'm not willing to see that. How long have you known each other? Even if you've been married, so what? If you two were truly destined, you wouldn't have divorced. If you've already divorced, it means you weren't meant to be together, so why let you meet again?"

She didn't understand, feeling like fate was playing tricks on everyone in this world.

Dermot's face became even uglier because of her words, his gaze fixed on her. "You knew she was my ex-wife? When did you find out?"

"I heard your conversation with Mr. Angelo when I went to the Doyle Group to find you before," she answered.

Cassie looked tired as she walked towards the nearby sofa and sat down, saying, "Dermot, what are you going to do with me? Are you going to hand me over to Dr. Kyte? Or the police?"

"Don't worry, I remember how good you've been to me. No matter what choice you make, I won't blame you."

She only blamed that woman, Evelyn.

Since they were divorced, she shouldn't have appeared in front of Dermot.

This was a question that Dermot had been contemplating before coming here.

Her brother had saved him and his dying wish was for him to take care of this only sister, and Dermot had promised him in person.

But...

It was certain that Evelyn wouldn't let Cassie off easily.

The man pondered while Cassie looked calm as if she had already prepared for the worst.

After an unknown amount of time passed, Dermot finally spoke slowly, "Pack up and fly abroad tonight. I've arranged a school for you over there. You're not allowed to return to the country without my permission."

Upon hearing his answer, Cassie didn't know whether to be happy or sad for a moment.

In the end, Dermot still considered his brother's favor and decided to let her go. He could send her abroad, perhaps never to return, which would be extremely painful for her.

"What if I don't want to go?" she tentatively asked, hoping to make an effort to fight for herself.

However, Dermot's face turned cold at her words. "If you want to seek your demise, I won't stop you."

He had done all he could, and if Cassie didn't listen, there was nothing he could do. He couldn't blame Leonard Ackers down below either.

"Okay, I'll go."

Where there’s life, there’s hope. Cassie understood this truth.

Evelyn...

One day, she will come back.

At 8 p.m., after Evelyn had a good sleep and regained her strength, her eyes turned indifferent when she thought about what had happened during the day.

She took out her phone and dialed a number.
