Chapter 1318: Kid

Meanwhile, Lydia was eyeing Dermot and Evelyn up on stage, feeling all kinds of jealous. She let out a sigh, "Man, I wish I could have a wedding like that someday."

She sneaked a peek at Craig next to her, hoping he'd catch the hint.

But nope, Craig's mind was somewhere else. He was staring off in another direction. Lydia followed his gaze and, surprise surprise, there was Ruby.

Lydia's heart sank. Even though she and Craig were "official," he didn't treat her like a real girlfriend. He just dragged her along to play the part when it suited him.

It hurt, but Lydia kept quiet. She was scared that if she spoke up, she'd lose even this fake relationship.

At least she was still Craig's girlfriend, right?

Word on the street was that Ruby and Alex were gonna start planning their wedding after Evelyn's. Maybe once Ruby was hitched, Craig would finally give up on her. Then, maybe, just maybe, Lydia would get her shot.

Craig had no clue what was going on in her head. If he did, he'd probably laugh. He didn't have any feelings for Lydia. Ruby getting married wouldn't change that.

The wedding ceremony wrapped up pretty quick.

Dermot and Evelyn made the rounds, thanking everyone and toasting with the guests.

Dermot was genuinely stoked.

Evelyn headed back to the lounge, with Ruby tagging along. "Evelyn, it's obvious Dermot went all out for this wedding."

"Yeah, he handled everything. I barely had to do a thing," Evelyn said.

"Your wedding is perfect. What are Alex and I supposed to do? We can't compete with this. We'll have to come up with something different." Ruby sighed, looking a bit stressed.

Evelyn chuckled, "Are you seriously trying to one-up me?"

"Nah, it's just that Alex and I are regular folks. We don't need something this fancy." Most of the guests today were business connections of Dermot and Evelyn. Ruby and Alex didn't roll in those circles, so their wedding would have to be different.

Evelyn shrugged, "Do whatever feels right. I don't have strong opinions on weddings."

"You're so lucky." Ruby wished she could be as chill as Evelyn, but when she thought about Alex...

If she didn't handle the wedding, Alex would be totally lost.

Plus, Alex was busier than she was. The wedding planning would fall on her shoulders.

"So, after you and Dermot tie the knot, when are you planning to have a baby?" Ruby asked, catching Evelyn off guard.

Evelyn paused, mid-makeup removal, and looked at Ruby in disbelief. "Are you seriously pushing me to have a baby already?"

"No, I was just thinking it would be cool if we planned it together. Imagine if we both got pregnant at the same time—if we had a boy and a girl, they could be childhood sweethearts. If we had kids of the same gender, they could be best friends. Wouldn't that be awesome?" Ruby couldn't help but daydream.

Evelyn laughed but didn't shut it down completely, "Alright, we'll think about it. No rush though."

Evelyn felt she was still young. Having a baby now would mean giving up a lot of freedom.
