Chapter 1328 Extra: Aidan and Phoebe (3)

At first, Phoebe was just trying to hang in there for the baby, but the longer she crashed at Aidan's place, the more her mind started wandering.

She started thinking, if Aidan was cool with her staying, maybe he didn't hate her guts as much anymore?

With that in her head, Phoebe got serious about getting better.

She wanted to live, see the kid grow up, and maybe even grow old with Aidan.

Aidan noticed she was changing, but that was it. He didn't think much of it.

He let her stay mostly 'cause of the baby and 'cause Evelyn butted in. His feelings about Phoebe? Still the same.

He'd check on the baby now and then, but other than that, he was all about his work, barely interacting with Phoebe.

Around ten at night, Aidan rolled back to the villa from work.

For him, getting home at ten was like clocking out early.

First thing, he headed to the baby's room. The kid was already out cold, so he just left quietly.

As he was heading downstairs, Phoebe popped out of the room next door. "You're back?"

"Yeah," Aidan nodded. "Why are you still up?"

"I did sleep a bit." Truth was, she heard his car and got up to check.

"Get some rest." He started to head downstairs.

"Did you eat?" Phoebe trailed after him, not planning to hit the sack just yet.

They got to the first floor, and she said, "How about I whip up some spaghetti?"

"No need, you should rest. If anyone's cooking, it should be me." But honestly, he didn't feel like cooking and would rather just stay hungry.

Phoebe felt a bit awkward. "Well, actually, I'm kinda hungry too."

Aidan didn't say anything.

"Alright, you chill in the living room, I'll make the spaghetti." He headed to the kitchen.

Phoebe didn't stay in the living room; she followed him to the kitchen, trying to help.

But she didn't get the chance.

She just stood there, watching Aidan hustle, feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.

"Aidan, are you really not going to the Catholic church anymore?" Phoebe asked carefully. She was totally shocked when Evelyn first told her.

She couldn't believe Aidan would even think about it.

Why would he wanna become a clergyman?

Aidan was washing veggies. When he heard her question, he didn't get mad. "Don't worry, I'm not planning on it right now."

Besides, Evelyn wouldn't let him, and there was a baby upstairs. He couldn't just bail for the church.

Phoebe let out a sigh of relief. "That's good, that's good."

Aidan turned to her and asked, "What's good?"

"It's just good you're not becoming a clergyman," Phoebe said, her cheeks turning red as she looked away.

She didn't dare show any feelings for Aidan now, scared it would make him hate her and kick her out.

Phoebe thought, if she could just stay by his side like this forever, even if it was just like this, she'd be happy.
