Chapter 448 There Won't Be Another Time
The airport Evelyn was heading towards was Boulder, the neighboring city of Moris City. At the airport, ambulances, fire trucks, and police cars lined up, waiting for the plane to land.
On the plane, Evelyn stared ahead, feeling surprisingly calm inside.
"Do you feel confident about this?" It was Dermot, who felt a little worried, beside her. He wasn't worried about himself, but about Evelyn.
Evelyn chuckled self-deprecatingly and said, "Asking if I have any confidence at this point, isn't it a bit too late?"
Even if she said she had no confidence, what could Dermot do?
"That's true," the man chuckled lightly and didn't say anything more.
"Are you afraid?" Evelyn asked him with a smile. "Are you scared of dying like this?"
"I'm not afraid. As long as I'm with you, death isn't that terrifying." He spoke from the bottom of his heart, but Evelyn didn't see it that way. But she didn't mock him either. After all, at this point, whether one is afraid or not, there's really no choice.
"We're preparing to land." The cold voice came, and Dermot was also ready.
The plane began its descent. Boulder wasn't far from Morris City, and the plane's fuel was just about spent, otherwise they would have had to circle in the sky. The city gradually appeared in Evelyn's sight, and she could already see the flickering lights at the airport.
Her previously calm mood couldn't help but change. At this precise moment, she was not just in control of just her own life, but the lives of hundreds of people on the plane.
"Landing!"
As soon as the words fell, the plane immediately touched down, but because Evelyn wasn't a professional, the landing speed was too fast, and they couldn't stop in time.
"That's it, we're done! We're going to crash!"
Some passengers inside the cabin looked at the nearby control tower. At their current speed, they would crash in any minute. It wasn’t only the passengers inside the plane who were nervous, the people in the control tower began to evacuate too. In their eyes, the probability of the plane crashing was too high.
"Stop!" Evelyn gritted her teeth, gripping the control stick, looking at the control tower about to collide, sweat streaming down her face.
They were lucky. The plane stopped just fifty centimeters away from the control tower, narrowly avoiding a collision.
After successfully coming to a stop, Evelyn heard the cries from inside the cabin. The passengers were obviously excited. Evelyn slumped in her seat, as if she had exhausted all her strength in that moment.
Dermot released his seatbelt and came to her side. "Evelyn, you did great!"
Hearing his words, Evelyn curled her lips. "Thank you, I think I did pretty well too."
For someone who had never flown a real plane before, being able to do this much was already quite commendable. However, there is still room for improvement. She needed to learn how to fly a plane, so she wouldn't encounter a situation like this again.
‘No, no way!’ She said to herself internally, there wouldn’t be a next time!
The cabin door opened, and the flight attendants directed the passengers to disembark. The two hijackers were promptly handed over to the police. As for what would happen next, Evelyn didn't need to ask. She believed she would soon see it on the news.
After everyone left, Evelyn finally came out of the cockpit.
"Thank you." Several flight attendants who hadn't left yet expressed their gratitude when they saw Evelyn.
Evelyn waved her hand. "Don't thank me. Actually, I wasn't very confident either."
But at that time, she had to try. Although she said so, several flight attendants were still very grateful to her. They all knew that if it wasn't for Evelyn, this flight might have been their last.
