Chapter 717 Nothing More Than Offending You

In the restaurant's private room, Margaret sat next to Dermot, watching him speak eloquently. His every gesture and movement exuded a presence that rivaled anyone from the Doyle family.

Dermot was the one she had her eyes on, the one she had chosen to spend her life with.

So, she was willing to stay by Dermot's side while he was still in a weak position, believing that the Doyle family would eventually be his.

Dermot's phone vibrated slightly. He paused for a moment and glanced at the screen.

"Sorry, I need to take this call." He stood up with a hint of apology, holding his phone.

Margaret watched him disappear from the private room; her previously good mood instantly soured by the call.

Margaret saw that it was Evelyn calling.

Anger uncontrollably grew in her heart. Dermot was the one she had chosen, and she didn't want the person she had bet the entire Martin family on to end up in Evelyn's hands.

"Ms. Martin and Mr. Doyle really make a great couple." The client across the table complimented, with a hint of flattery towards Margaret.

Compared to Dermot, who wasn't a significant figure in the Doyle family, he preferred to flatter the lady from the Martin family.

Margaret smiled politely. Although she was furious about Evelyn's call, she didn't show it on her face. "Thank you."

"When did Ms. Martin and Mr. Doyle get together?" The client seemed curious, or rather, he was probing to see if Margaret and Dermot were actually a couple.

If they were, everything would be fine. He would choose to cooperate with Dermot, even if it was just for Margaret's sake.

But if they weren't, he would have to reconsider.

After all, everyone knew that Dermot was competing with other members of the Doyle family for the heir position. Supporting Dermot now would mean opposing the other members of the Doyle family.

If Dermot failed, he would be in trouble too.

This question made Margaret's eyes darken for a moment, but she quickly recovered. "For a while now."

Hearing this, the client breathed a sigh of relief. This was an acknowledgment of their relationship, right?

With the Martin family's support, Dermot had a good chance of controlling the Doyle family. From their conversation earlier, it was clear that Dermot was very capable. At least in this regard, the other members of the Doyle family were no match for Dermot.

While they continued their conversation, Dermot was answering Evelyn's call outside.

"What's up?" Dermot's voice was indifferent, with a hint of impatience.

Evelyn didn't mind and said directly, "Where are you? I need to talk to you."

"No time." Dermot remained cold. He really didn't have time because he needed to get back to the private room to continue the discussion.

His outright refusal left Evelyn feeling inexplicably hurt, but she insisted, saying, "Dermot, I really need to talk to you. It's important."

"Ms. Kyte, I remember we're just business partners. What makes you think I'll meet you just because you ask?" His voice was cold and emotionless.

Evelyn was momentarily stunned. She gritted her teeth and said, "If you don't meet me, our partnership ends here."

"Evelyn!" Dermot was instantly furious. "Do you know what you're saying?"

"I'm very clear. It's just offending you, the future heir of the Doyle family, but I don't care." She had to see Dermot today.

She already had her suspicions and needed to see him to confirm them.
