Chapter 789 Preparing to Leave

In the morning, as everyone gradually woke up for work, the news of Blake and Wade's kidnapping once again became the heated topic among people.

As Evelyn's anticipation, as soon as the stock market opened, the stocks of the Kyte Group and the Allen Group hit the limit down. In response, the Kyte family and the Allen family had to issue an announcement, assuring that Blake and Wade would be safe, and even if something happened to them, it would not affect the Kyte Group and the Allen Group.

However, Evelyn didn't bother with any of these. The Kyte Group had specialized personnel handling it, so she didn't need to worry.

At this moment, she had already arrived in the small county and started inspecting all places related to lumber.

With ten minutes left until the one-hour mark, Evelyn was drenched in sweat. While she was searching, she had already arranged for someone to transfer the money to David's account as soon as the hour was up.

At the lumber mill, David looked at his phone, growing impatient as there was still no notification of the money transfer. "Call Evelyn again and ask her if she doesn't care about your lives anymore."

He had already given a generous one-hour deadline, which should have been enough time to gather the money.

The phone rang again, and Evelyn answered immediately, "Wade?"

"Yes, Evelyn," Wade responded, but he didn't mention the money at all.

David was already angry, and hearing Wade not even ask about the money and instead sound like he was making small talk, he kicked him in frustration.

After kicking Wade to the ground, he picked up the phone from the floor. "Evelyn, where's the money? Why hasn't it been transferred yet? Are you playing games with me?"

"You said you'll give me an hour. I'm still gathering the money," Evelyn replied, but she had already instructed the person next to her to continue tracking the location.

David sneered, "Don't take me for a fool. Do you really think I don't know what you're trying to do? You're just stalling for time, hoping to find me during this period."

Evelyn didn't respond, but she felt a bit anxious.

Since David knew yet didn't seem to have any intention of leaving, it was clear he was confident she wouldn't find him, which made Evelyn uneasy.

"Let me tell you, even if you find us, so what? Do you think you can take them from me?" David sneered.

Evelyn remained silent.

"If I don't see the transfer notification in three minutes, you can start preparing their funerals." With that, he hung up the phone.

Evelyn took a deep breath to make herself stay calm, then asked, "Have you pinpointed the location?"

"Not very accurately, but it's roughly in the southwest," the person said.

Evelyn nodded and led her team in that direction, while also informing the person responsible for the money transfer about the three-minute deadline.

Perhaps God blessed Evelyn, as they quickly found a lumber mill in the southwest. The area around the mill was particularly quiet, clearly having been cleared out.

Evelyn instructed her team to hide carefully so wouldn't be discovered, while she began to look around.

Meanwhile, the three-minute deadline had passed, and they had no choice but to transfer the money to David.

Upon seeing the money transfer notification, David finally smiled. "Guys, the money's in. Let's get ready to move."

With the money in, their next step was to head towards the border.

However, before that, he needed to make a call to Evelyn. "Ms. Kyte, I was very satisfied with our recent cooperation. Now, let's start another one."

"We're going to leave through the border. You need to find a way to get the border guards to let us through. As long as we can leave, I promise I won't kill your father and Wade."

Listening to David on the other end of the line, Evelyn was furious. She wasn't stupid; she knew David was clearly trying to deceive her.

If they really managed to cross the border, there was no way they would release the hostages.
