Chapter 1181: I Don't Know What You're Talking about
She really didn't wanna hear it, but Blake had to spill the beans, "Bella, I only married Dora because she set me up. We're long divorced now."
"Divorced?" That was news to her.
"Yeah, I never loved her. The only one I've ever loved is you," Blake said.
Bella's eyes got all teary. Wasn't it the same for her?
But with Nathaniel's crazy ways, she didn't dare say it out loud. "Thanks for the love, but I'm good now and don't wanna be bothered. If you really care, take Evelyn and bounce. Do you even know how dangerous it is bringing her here?"
"I know. Evelyn was super insistent, especially when she found out you weren't doing well with Nathaniel. She's dead set on taking you away."
"Bella, Evelyn's our daughter. We've both let her down over the years, but she doesn't hold it against us. She cares about us a lot. She's amazing. Sometimes, I'm just so grateful to have her."
Bella felt a deep sadness. If she could, she would've loved to watch Evelyn grow up.
But back then, no one gave her the chance.
"Bella, would you come with us? We could start fresh and live our own lives," Blake said.
Bella was taken aback. She wanted to say yes, but she didn't have the guts.
On one hand, she couldn't escape from Nathaniel. On the other, even if she managed to get away for a bit, Nathaniel would catch her and it would put them all in danger.
After a moment of silence, under Blake's gaze, Bella shook her head. "I don't want to. I choose to stay and live with Nathaniel. We're doing fine."
"Bella! Don't lie! He's not good to you. He forced you into this marriage. You don't even like him!" Blake's voice was filled with heartbreak. He could see Bella was worried about his and Evelyn's safety.
But the more concerned she seemed, the more determined he became to take her away.
Bella was shocked that Blake knew everything. For a moment, she was at a loss for words. "It doesn't matter. I'm not going with you. You need to leave now."
"Bella, you sent someone to knock me out, didn't you?" Blake asked.
Bella was stunned. Blake continued, "You didn't want Nathaniel to kill me, so you had me knocked out and made me disappear, right?"
"I don't know what you're talking about!" She said calmly, but inside she was freaking out.
How did he know?
"Bella, I know you still care about me. If you didn't, you wouldn't have done what you did. It would've been easier to let Nathaniel kill me, and you could've lived more peacefully with him," Blake said, looking at Bella.
Bella stayed silent. Sometimes, silence said it all.
"Don't worry, Evelyn's super smart. She'll find a way to get you out," Blake said, having figured everything out and made his decision.
Bella smiled bitterly inside. How could she not worry?
"Blake, you have no idea how terrifying Nathaniel is!" Bella sighed. "Please, take Evelyn and leave, okay?"
"Bella, I couldn't protect you before, so I just watched you get hurt, taken away by the Calderon family. But now, I can protect you. Will you give me this chance?" Blake looked at her, speaking sincerely.
Bella opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but in the end, nothing came out.
What else could she say?
It seemed that nothing she said could change Blake's decision.
