Chapter 983: Am I Really That Awful

Seeing Niall so determined, Aidan was speechless. "If you're set on it, go ahead. I've said my piece. Your choice, your consequences."

"One thing's clear: I won't accept her. But that's probably no big deal to you."

Aidan added, "Don't bring her around here. If you're still together, you're not welcome either."

His words were clear, and Niall's face darkened.

"Can't you just give her a chance?" Niall asked, baffled by Aidan's harshness towards Lily.

Aidan looked serious. "She doesn't need my approval. I don't care about her past. But I won't accept her marrying you, got it?"

If Niall weren't his brother, Aidan wouldn't interfere.

Niall didn't get it. "You're always meddling in relationships when you're unhappy."

"What did you say?" Aidan couldn't believe his ears.

"Isn't it true?" Niall stood firm. "First Evelyn and Dermot, now me and Lily. Is it because you can't find happiness that you won't let us have it?"

Aidan seethed, staring at Niall, who now felt like a stranger.

Niall's words were a shock to Aidan.

"It's normal for Evelyn not to like you. If I were her, I wouldn't like you either."

As soon as Niall finished, Aidan slapped him. "Get out! Get out now!"

"Fine, I'll go!" Niall shouted, not holding back his anger.

Niall stormed out of the study, heading downstairs to the kitchen.

In the study, Aidan stood trembling from the slap he had delivered.

Niall's words had cut deep.

"Not like me? Am I really that awful?" Aidan muttered, sinking into self-doubt.

He always prided himself on being the big brother, taking care of his siblings.

But now, neither Evelyn nor Niall seemed to listen to him. He smirked bitterly, feeling like a loser.

In the kitchen, Lily was cooking. When Niall entered, she smiled and asked, "Done talking to Aidan? Dinner's ready."

"Dinner? He's not exactly thrilled to see us," Niall replied, still angry.

Lily was startled by his anger. She had never seen him so mad.

"Sorry, I just..." Niall realized he was taking his anger out on Lily.

Lily didn't say anything, just hugged him. "It's okay; I'm not mad."

Niall hugged her tighter. "Thank you."

Niall thought, 'Aidan, how could I give up such a good girl?'

"Aidan, he..." Lily looked upstairs, unsure how to continue.

Niall had calmed down but still didn't want Lily to stay. "It's okay; let's go for now. We'll come back another day."

"Okay." Lily nodded, not asking what had happened, and quietly followed Niall out.
