Chapter 1113: I'm Not as Good at Seducing Men as She Is
"Yeah, I'll take you shopping next time," Joshua said, brushing her off. Truth was, he had zero plans of taking Mary anywhere.
Joshua knew Mary had a thing for him, but he just wasn't into her. If she hadn't been working for him for so long, he would've lost his cool with her ages ago.
Mary pouted, then noticed the bodyguards lugging a mountain of stuff behind them. Her eyes lit up. "Are those for me? Joshua, you're the best!"
But before she could get close, Joshua's voice cut through. "Put these in Evelyn's room."
The bodyguards headed upstairs, each carrying a bunch of bags—more than a dozen in total, and not a single one for Mary.
Mary's face fell, so Brandon quickly handed her the bag he was holding. "Mr. Garcia didn't forget about you. Look, this is from him."
Actually, it was only because Brandon had mentioned it before they left that Joshua agreed to let him buy something for Mary. Otherwise, Joshua wouldn't have even thought of her.
Mary looked skeptical, but since Joshua didn't deny it, she smiled and took the bag.
When she saw it was just a set of skincare products, her mood tanked. "It's always this."
Brandon kept quiet, thinking, 'We don't even know your clothing size; how could we buy you clothes?'
If they didn't know what skincare products she used, they wouldn't even know what to get.
Joshua ignored her and turned to Evelyn. "You must be tired from shopping all day. Go rest in your room."
"Okay, you should rest early, too," Evelyn nodded. She was already tired of watching Mary's little drama.
Then, Joshua and Evelyn went upstairs, each heading to their own rooms.
Once they were gone, the smile vanished from Mary's face. She threw the bag back at Brandon. "You bought this, didn't you?"
"Absolutely not, Mr. Garcia paid for it." He had used Joshua's bank card, so technically, Joshua did pay. He wasn't lying to Mary.
Mary looked doubtful, and Brandon nodded repeatedly. Finally, she took the bag back, grumbling, "Why does Evelyn get so much, and I only get this? Joshua is so unfair."
"Mary, Mr. Garcia likes Evelyn; you know that," Brandon reminded her gently.
Hearing this, Mary got even more pissed. "Damn it. All that bitch does is seduce men."
If she was good at seducing men, too, Joshua wouldn't ignore her completely.
"Mr. Garcia isn't interested in you, and it's not because of Evelyn." They all knew about Mary's feelings for Joshua, but they also knew Joshua had no interest in Mary.
So, whether Evelyn was there or not, Joshua would never be with her.
They could see it clearly, but unfortunately, Mary couldn't. "How is it not because of her? If it weren't for her, Joshua would definitely like me!"
Brandon stayed silent.
He had no idea where Mary got her confidence from.
"Just wait and see; I won't give up so easily." Mary looked up at Evelyn's room. She couldn't believe that after being by Joshua's side for so many years, she couldn't outdo Evelyn.
Evelyn had been on the island for so long and had never harmed anyone, so in Mary's eyes, she was just a woman she could easily get rid of.
