Chapter 916 Think It Through Before Speaking
"What are you doing? Let go of me!" The receptionist struggled against Luke and yelled at Evelyn.
Evelyn, annoyed, was about to tell Luke to gag her when he did it on his own, making the room go silent.
Evelyn quickly found the video of Sarah at the cafe. She fast-forwarded and saw Sarah meeting a client, but the client wasn't alone—he had brought Sarah's ex-husband, Nolan.
Evelyn knew Nolan from before and was surprised he'd dare meet Sarah again. Her unease grew as she continued to fast-forward.
The video showed the client leaving, leaving only Sarah and Nolan in the room. Evelyn worried because she didn't think Sarah had anything to discuss with Nolan.
Then, as expected, Nolan was seen supporting Sarah, who seemed to be drunk . Evelyn knew Sarah wouldn't get drunk in front of Nolan. She saw them go upstairs, not leaving the cafe, and felt lost.
There were no cameras upstairs, so she didn't know which room Sarah was taken to. She told Luke to release the receptionist. "Where are they?"
"I don't..."
"Think carefully. Do you know he's committing a crime? Do you want to cover for him?" Evelyn's cold tone scared the receptionist.
Frightened, the receptionist finally said, "Upstairs, second room on the left."
Nolan was a regular, so she didn't stop him when he took Sarah upstairs, even though she noticed something was off. But now, she didn't want trouble.
Evelyn didn't waste time and headed upstairs. She found the room and kicked the door open.
Ready for a fight, she was surprised by what she saw inside.
Sarah was curled up in Keith's arms, crying softly. Evelyn's sudden entrance startled Sarah, who looked up.
Seeing Evelyn, Sarah was momentarily confused. "Evelyn, why are you here?"
"Are you okay?" Evelyn asked, noticing Keith on the sofa, figuring Sarah was fine.
Sarah shook her head. "Luckily, Keith arrived in time."
Evelyn looked around, not seeing Nolan. Keith said coldly, "He was sent to the police station."
"Oh, well done!" Evelyn gave him a thumbs-up.
Keith, however, was a bit annoyed. "Evelyn, even though you and Sarah are close, you can't have her working all the time. If she keeps meeting clients like this, something bad will happen."
If he hadn't been worried and followed Sarah, who knows what could've happened today.
"Yes, it's my fault. I should've given Sarah some time off." Evelyn didn't argue. She was grateful for Keith's timely help. If something had happened to Sarah, she'd regret it forever.
