Chapter 511 Relocating the Headquarters
Evelyn had left early in the morning, her agenda packed with tasks. She had decided to move the company's headquarters to Columbia to propel its growth. That's why she had sent for Sarah and Luke to join her there posthaste.
Both were key players in the company, and such a strategic move required thorough discussion with them.
As to why Evelyn would involve Luke, fully aware of his ulterior motives, it was a matter of necessity. Luke's resume was impressive, and so far, his actions hadn't crossed any lines. Evelyn opted to keep him close, maintaining vigilance.
At the airport, Evelyn met them both.
"Ms. Kyte."
"Evelyn."
Luke and Sarah approached with smiles on their faces. She nodded to them, motioning towards the car. She would take them to the hotel first and then delve into the matter of moving the headquarters.
In the car, Sarah couldn't contain her curiosity. "Evelyn, are you really the long-lost eldest daughter of the Kyte family?"
"Something like that." There were complexities that Evelyn couldn't begin to explain to Sarah, not yet anyway, so she stuck with that simple response.
Luke cast a thoughtful eye on Evelyn, silent, his thoughts inscrutable.
He had been instructed by Benjamin to woo Evelyn before her reintegration with the Kyte family to secure a position as a son-in-law—a step towards laying claim to their fortune. However, plans seldom keep pace with reality.
Before he could endear himself to her, Evelyn had already resumed her role within the Kyte family, and now she seemed more unattainable than ever. Luke felt his scheme unraveling at the edges.
He had spent the last few days in Moris City pondering his next moves. Surely he wouldn't end up merely toiling away in Evelyn's company - with its limited prospects, as he saw it.
Yet, before he had charted a new path, Evelyn reached out to involve him in the move to Columbia. It was baffling. She knew of his parentage and still kept him on—contrary to common sense.
Before long, the car pulled up outside the hotel, and the trio walked in. After settling Sarah and her companion, they moved to the hotel restaurant to get down to business.
At the table, Evelyn ordered a variety of dishes: "Let's eat while we talk."
"Sounds good." Sarah replied, nodding and promptly digging in, with no need for formalities between her and Evelyn.
"I've called you to Columbia primarily to discuss relocating the headquarters of Evelyna Fashion Group," Evelyn began. She had recently rebranded from Evelyna Fashion Designs to Evelyna Fashion Group, signaling her ambition.
Sarah nodded as she ate, already briefed on the situation: "Relocating is fine, but establishing a strong foothold here in Columbia worries me. I fear we might face intentional difficulties."
Evelyna Fashion was still a relatively insignificant player, but Evelyn's return to the Kyte family had recently drawn some attention.
Nonetheless, the company's size remained a fact.
"Don't worry about that,” Evelyn assured her. “After all, I still carry the title of Lady of the Kyte family. No one would dare openly challenge us." It was precisely because of this that Evelyn had decided now was the time to move the headquarters.
She wasn't sure how long she'd remain a part of the Kyte family. If she were to leave one day, relocating to Columbia wouldn't be that simple anymore.
The time to act was now.
