Chapter 812 Those People Have Bad Intentions

"He's not asking to get back together, just for a chance," Evelyn said with a bitter smile, not knowing what else to say.

"A chance?" Ruby pondered for a moment and then asked her, "Evelyn, how do you really feel about him now? Do you still like him?"

No matter how much Dermot said, it ultimately depended on Evelyn herself. If she liked Dermot, even if he did nothing and remained indifferent, she would still like him.

But if Evelyn no longer liked him, even if Dermot regained his memory, it would make little difference.

"I don't know." Evelyn shook her head and added, "Actually, I feel like whether I like him or not doesn't matter anymore. I don't have that much time to waste on him, and I don't want to waste it on such things."

She felt she had more important things to do than fall in love. The time wasted on Dermot could be better spent performing a few more surgeries, which would at least give her a greater sense of accomplishment.

"You're right. People don't necessarily need to fall in love or get married. One can live well alone," Ruby agreed wholeheartedly.

Evelyn said, "It's one thing for me to think this way, given that I've been divorced. But it's not right for you to think this way."

She didn't let Ruby's words sway her and looked at her incredulously. "Haven't you met anyone suitable all this time? I've heard quite a few people are pursuing you."

"Those people." Ruby frowned.

"Tell me, why none of them caught your eye?" Evelyn had heard that several of them were quite good-looking and came from wealthy families. Ruby couldn't have such high standards, could she?

Ruby sighed, feeling a bit helpless. "A lot of those people are actually after you."

"Me?" Evelyn was stunned, her eyes filled with confusion.

"Yes, they all know about our relationship. They think that if they marry me, you'll look out for their family because of me, and that would elevate their family status." Ruby wasn't naive; she could easily tell that those people weren't genuinely interested in her.

After all, for some small families in Golombia, even a little favor from the Kyte family would be enough for them and would do them a great favor.

Evelyn sighed, feeling a bit speechless. "Sorry, I didn't know it would turn out like this."

She hadn't given anyone special treatment, and since coming to Golombia, she rarely met Ruby. How could there still be so many people with ulterior motives?

"It's not your fault; it's those people who have bad intentions." Ruby wasn't foolish, so she wouldn't blame Evelyn.

"Then don't rush. Take your time. You'll find someone suitable eventually," Evelyn told her. After all, Ruby was still young.

Ruby nodded. In truth, she had lost faith in love, but she didn't make Evelyn worry, so she didn't say it.

After the chat with Evelyn, Ruby prepared to leave.

Although the feeling of being watched had temporarily disappeared, she still felt it was better to go home early, especially since the banquet was almost over.

"Alright, I'll walk you to the door." Evelyn didn't stop her, knowing Ruby didn't like such occasions.

She got up and walked Ruby to the door. After watching her get into the car, she turned and went back to the venue.

She didn't like attending such banquets either, but today, she was the main character. If she left, no one knew what people would say about her behind her back.

Having just taken over the Kyte family, she didn't want to give others a chance to slander her family. So, even if she didn't like it, she had to endure it.

One of the reasons she didn't want to take over the Kyte family was that after taking over, she had to consider the family's reputation in everything she did. It made her feel like she had no control over her own life, which was very painful for her.
