Chapter 1291: It Doesn't Make Any Sense

Everyone got the gist, so no one called it out. Except for Aidan's cold snort, the room was pretty quiet.

But that didn't make Lily feel any better, especially seeing Niall still sticking up for her. And what about her? What could she do?

Not only could she do nothing, but she also just brought him more trouble.

Right now, Lily was seriously hating on her own uselessness.

"I've already got Conrad, the guy who jumped you, on lockdown. Dealing with him is no biggie, but he's got the Diaz family backing him." Aidan glanced at Evelyn, making the whole thing seem messier.

On the surface, Conrad looked like he was running the show, but really, it was the Diaz family pulling the strings, which explained his cocky attitude.

Aidan had made some decent moves in Golombia, but he was still small potatoes compared to the top ten families. So, it was up to Evelyn to handle this mess.

Niall knew the Diaz family was way out of his league. He didn't want to drag Evelyn into it either. "Since he made the first move, let's just throw him in jail."

No matter who had his back, as long as they didn't step up for Conrad, Niall wasn't planning to push it. He didn't have the muscle for it anyway.

Evelyn got what they were hinting at, but she had her own ideas. "Niall, you just focus on getting better. Leave the rest to me."

"Evelyn."

"Trust me, I got this." Evelyn cut him off with a smile. She knew Niall was worried, but to her, the Diaz family was no big deal now.

After the whole mess with Natalie, she had already put Hubert on notice. Even though Natalie vanished from Golombia, it didn't mean Evelyn had let go of her grudge against the Diaz family.

Now that they were messing with her again, she wasn't about to miss the chance to hit back.

Plus, both the Kyte Group and the Doyle Group were looking to expand, but Golombia's turf was limited. To grow, they had to take over rival territories.

So, with just a look, Evelyn and Dermot were on the same page: they were going to take down the Diaz family.

Seeing Evelyn so set on this, Niall didn't argue. He trusted her. "Alright then, do what you gotta do, but be careful."

"Alright, get some rest. We're outta here," Evelyn said. Without waiting for Aidan to chime in, she grabbed his hand and led him out, giving Niall and Lily some space.

Aidan, dragged out by Evelyn, wasn't thrilled. "Why'd you pull me out? I still had stuff to say to Niall."

"Aidan, are you trying to get Niall to dump Lily again?" Evelyn called him out. She knew exactly what he was thinking.

Aidan didn't say anything, but his silence said it all.

Evelyn felt a headache coming on and had to remind him, "Look at how Niall stands up for Lily. You should know he doesn't mind the trouble she brings. He probably just feels he hasn't protected her enough. So, whatever you say now, he won't listen. It's pointless."

She hoped to get Aidan to back off and let Niall figure things out on his own, avoiding more drama between them.

Aidan got what Evelyn was saying, sighed deeply, looked at her, then at Dermot, and shook his head. "Fine, do what you want. You didn't listen to me back then, and he won't listen now."

He suddenly felt like one of those annoying parents in stories who try to break up the main couple.

Why bother, making everyone miserable?
