Chapter 708: Does It Have Anything to Do with You?

Margaret raised an eyebrow and took the initiative to walk towards Eugene.

"Mr. Roberts," Margaret spoke. Although she didn't like Eugene, he was, after all, the heir to the Roberts family and could be useful to her.

Upon hearing the voice, Eugene's somber expression vanished. He turned to see Margaret and instantly lit up, exclaiming, "Ms. Martin, what a pleasant surprise to see you here!"

"Yes, I'm here with Dermot for some business," she said, glancing at Dermot not far away.

Eugene only now noticed Dermot's presence. His initial joy diminished a bit because of him. "So, you're here with Mr. Doyle."

Dermot held the position of department director at Doyle Group. Outsiders addressed him as Mr. Doyle, showing respect to the Doyle family. However, among these influential families, Dermot was seen as a figurehead and was not involved in the core interests of the Doyle family.

"Since we ran into each other, how about we have a meal together?" Eugene smiled at Margaret, mainly addressing her. As for Dermot, he couldn't care less.

Margaret hesitated and glanced at Dermot, who was approaching her. "I have other obligations," she said.

Dermot's response was straightforward: if Margaret wished to dine with him, she could proceed, but he would not accompany her.

Margaret's face stiffened. Although it seemed that Dermot was the one reaching up to her, Margaret knew that Dermot never took her seriously and never gave her face in public.

"Mr. Doyle, if you have things to do, go ahead. No need to see you off," Eugene waved dismissively. It was perfect for him if Dermot didn't go. He could take the opportunity to get closer to Margaret.

Dermot's face remained stern. He said nothing but didn't leave either.

Margaret then smiled and said, "Mr. Roberts, I'm afraid I can't dine with you today. Maybe another time."

Eugene's expression soured upon realizing that Margaret's rejection was due to Dermot. He redirected his frustration towards Dermot, saying, "Mr. Doyle had a fondness for Evelyn, and now that you're involved with Ms. Martin, you've ended things with her. That isn't very considerate, is it?"

Hearing this, Dermot frowned, "What's it to you?"

Eugene was infuriated by his words. Where did he get the confidence to oppose him? Did he really think of himself as part of the Doyle family?

"Mr. Doyle and Evelyn really have the same temperament," Eugene mocked, wondering where they got their courage from.

Dermot remained silent, but his expression clearly displayed his displeasure. Sensing tension, Margaret intervened and said, "Mr. Roberts, we'll take our leave now. I'll treat you to a meal another time."

With that, she pulled Dermot away.

Watching them leave, Eugene's face darkened, "Evelyn and Margaret must be blind."

One Evelyn was bad enough, and now there was Margaret. How could they both be interested in Dermot, who had nothing?

To Eugene, Dermot was a nobody.

Despite now being part of the Doyle family, it was evident to all that Dermot was not fully embraced as one of their own.

As they rode in the car, Dermot maintained a stern expression, clearly still discontent.

"I know you don't like Eugene, but we're at a critical time right now. There's no need to offend someone like him."

Dermot responded, "Got it."

Disapproval was one thing, but losing control was another. Dermot recognized this distinction.

"My father, Steven, has invited us for dinner. Can you make it?" Margaret inquired anxiously, avoiding eye contact with Dermot.

Dermot furrowed his brow and faced her, "We're only pretending to be in a relationship. Didn't you inform them?
