Chapter 1079: Aren't You Curious About His Answer
"Even though times have changed, I still think a kid without a dad might feel a loss. Have you thought about that?" Evelyn looked at Phoebe, genuinely concerned.
Phoebe lowered her head, clearly affected by Evelyn's words.
She shared Evelyn's worries. She knew how important a father figure was.
But what could she do?
Aidan hated her. If he found out she was pregnant, he'd definitely push for an abortion.
"I actually met up with Aidan yesterday," Evelyn said.
Phoebe's eyes widened in shock, quickly turning to horror. "Did you tell him?"
"Yes," Evelyn admitted. No point in hiding it now.
Phoebe immediately got upset. She glared at Evelyn, her voice sharp. "How could you tell him without asking me? This is my child. I get to decide. It's no one else's business."
Not even Aidan's.
"Aren't you curious about his reaction?" Evelyn wasn't mad at her outburst; she understood Phoebe.
After all, Aidan was her brother, and she wanted him to have a happy family.
Phoebe pressed her lips together and spoke softly, "What else could he say? He'd just tell me to get an abortion."
"He probably doesn't even believe the baby is his, right?" Phoebe said bitterly.
Evelyn didn't know what to say because Phoebe was right.
Aidan didn't believe the baby was his. Even if he did, he'd still want an abortion.
Evelyn sighed and said, "So, have you really thought this through? Even if you have the baby, Aidan won't accept it."
"I made up my mind when I decided to keep the baby," Phoebe said firmly.
Evelyn sighed. "If you need any help, call me."
If this baby was born, whether Aidan accepted it or not, she would.
After all, the baby would be her niece or nephew and call her aunt.
Phoebe's tone softened, and she relaxed. "You're not against me keeping the baby?"
"Absolutely not. It's your child. No one can stop you from keeping it." Not even Aidan.
Phoebe smiled. She hadn't expected anyone to support her decision.
She looked at Evelyn gratefully. "Thank you."
"Don't thank me. I should be thanking you," Evelyn said, meeting her gaze. Their past conflicts were behind them.
Phoebe was puzzled. "Thank me?"
"Yes, thank you for adding another member to my family," Evelyn explained. Even though they weren't biologically related, she saw Aidan as her brother. So, his child would be her niece or nephew.
Evelyn hoped it would be a girl so she could buy her lots of pretty dresses.
Phoebe's eyes filled with tears. She looked at Evelyn, unsure of what to say. "I'm sorry for everything in the past."
Apologizing wasn't something she did often. If Evelyn hadn't approached her today, Phoebe might never have apologized.
Evelyn smiled, stood up, and gently patted her shoulder. "It's all in the past. You're about to start fresh."
