Chapter 291 I'm afraid you won't adjust well

A week later, Dermot was discharged from the hospital.

"Did you look at the information I sent you about the adoptive parents yesterday?" the man asked the person next to him in the car.

Evelyn nodded and handed over her tablet.

"Based on the information you provided, I did some research myself. For now, that couple seems good and meets my requirements."

The adoptive family Dermot found for Ethan and Mia may not be considered top-tier in Moris City, but they have enough assets to support two children without any issues.

Most importantly, this couple has a great relationship and has been searching for a suitable child to adopt because they can't have their own. Evelyn believed that Ethan and Mia would be treated well in such a family.

"So, is it decided then? Shall we arrange for the children to meet them?" Dermot asked.

"Alright," Evelyn wanted to resolve this matter as soon as possible. "I'll go to Tara Village and bring the children over."

"Shall I come with you?" Dermot wanted to see the place where Evelyn grew up.

Evelyn looked at him, as if she knew what he was thinking. "Are you sure you want to go? Tara Village is not like Moris City, I'm afraid you won't adjust well there."

Even if Tara Village is well-built, it's still just a village, and for someone like Dermot who has never left the city, it would be a test.

"You underestimate me," the man chuckled. Did he really seem that weak?

"Fine then, if you want to go, let's go tomorrow," Evelyn didn't say much. In fact, she also wanted Dermot to see it. After all, it was where she grew up, and the people there were like her uncles and aunts. It was time to go back and visit.

Feeling happy that his request was granted, Dermot thought that Evelyn's willingness to let him come along meant that she had accepted him. After all, it was the place where Evelyn grew up.

The car parked at Barberts Apartment, and the two got out of the car. Just as they took a few steps, a figure suddenly appeared and blocked their way.

Evelyn was startled, and before she could react, Dermot stood in front of her. At this moment, even if she refused to admit it, her heart couldn't lie.

She looked at the man's back and suddenly felt...that maybe things were fine just like this.

"Who are you?" Dermot cautiously stared at the disheveled middle-aged man in front of them, ready to take action at any moment.

However, the middle-aged man ignored him and looked at Evelyn behind him. "You're the one who convinced that kid, John, to go to school, right?"

Evelyn frowned. She already guessed who the person was.

But... She looked at the messy middle-aged man in front of her, and couldn't help but notice how different he looked from when she saw him at the hospital.

Gathering herself, she finally spoke, "I told him to go back to school because it's for his own good."

"Okay, as his father, if you couldn't afford to send him to school, that's one thing, but now you want to prevent him from going to school?"

"On what grounds do you let him go to school? If he goes to school, who will earn money for me to drink?" Jeff Nord said without any guilt, making it hard to believe.

Evelyn was also stunned, wondering if this was something a father should say.

She thought that even if Jeff Nord didn't appreciate her, he should at least be happy that his son could go back to school, right?

But now it seems he is not happy at all.

"If you let him go back to school, then you'll have to pay for it since no one will be earning money for me to drink," Jeff Nord reached out his hand towards Evelyn, indicating that she should give him money, looking unashamed. It made people want to punch him.
