Chapter 814 It's a Bomb!
If she were Margaret, upon realizing she had no chance of inheriting the Martin family fortune, she would choose to do what she loved, even leave the Martin family. In fact, she could still live quite well that way.
Unfortunately, Margaret couldn't be so carefree. She neither had the ability nor wanted to give up the sense of superiority the Martin family brought her, so she could only live in torture all her life.
Back at the venue, Evelyn noticed Dermot at once. Mainly because Dermot was handsome and tall, but it was hard not to notice him.
Dermot also saw her and gave her a slight nod without any other move.
It left Evelyn unsure of his intentions, so she decided not to care. Whatever he was thinking, it had nothing to do with her anyway.
As the banquet neared its end, Evelyn felt a sense of relief. On one hand, she was glad it was finally over; on the other, she was thankful that nothing unexpected had happened during the event.
People, perhaps, really shouldn't sigh with relief too soon.
Just as Evelyn was feeling relieved that nothing unexpected had happened, she turned around and saw Eugene walking into the venue.
The Roberts family had already gone bankrupt, and he wasn't invited to tonight's banquet. His sudden appearance here indeed surprised many people.
Some thought perhaps the Kyte family invited the Roberts family out of an old friendship; after all, Blake's other daughter, Lucia, still had some connection with the Roberts family.
But Evelyn knew very well that Blake did not invite the Roberts family.
She looked towards Wade, or more precisely, towards Lucia beside him.
Wade bringing Lucia tonight had already surprised many people, but at this moment, Evelyn didn't care. She wanted to know if Lucia had invited him.
Wade understood her meaning and directly asked Lucia. She quickly shook her head, saying she would never invite the Roberts family. She wasn't looking for trouble.
Evelyn frowned as she saw Wade shake his head.
Blake also came to her side at this moment and asked Evelyn, "Did you invite Eugene?"
He hadn't invited him, but Evelyn was also a host, so if she had invited him, it wouldn't be impossible. Therefore, he needed to ask first.
"No." Evelyn shook her head.
"I'll go check it out," Blake said, about to walk toward Eugene. The main reason was that Eugene's sudden appearance was troublesome.
Evelyn's brow twitched a few times, and a sense of unease instantly came over her. She grabbed her father and said, "I'll go."
Blake hadn't fully recovered yet, and she was really afraid something might happen again.
Although she thought Eugene wouldn't be so bold, and he was likely here to make some sarcastic remarks, Evelyn still didn't dare to let Blake go over.
"Alright, after all, you are now in charge of the Kyte family, and you should learn to handle things yourself." Blake didn't stop her. In his view, Eugene couldn't cause much trouble, so letting Evelyn handle it was fine.
Evelyn walked towards Eugene, and when she stood in front of him, she realized that today's Eugene looked quite miserable compared to before.
"What are you doing here?" Evelyn asked directly, not intending to beat around the bush with Eugene.
Eugene looked up at her and sneered. "What? Ms. Kyte officially takes over the Kyte family today, and can't I come to congratulate you?"
"Are you such a kind person?" Evelyn retorted bluntly. Given Eugene's character, It was obviously impossible for him to come to congratulate her.
Eugene pursed his lips but didn't refute. "Actually, I came today to give you a gift."
"A gift?" Evelyn frowned again, her intuition telling her that Eugene's gift wouldn't be anything good.
"Yes, a gift. I guarantee you'll like it." Eugene smiled and, under Evelyn's gaze, slowly unbuttoned his suit jacket.
"It's a bomb!"
"Is he crazy?"
