Chapter 1002: Don't Be fooled

When Todd rushed into the bar, Craig was trying to stop Dermot from drinking. He pushed open the door to the private room and was taken aback by the scene.

"Todd, you okay?" Todd asked.

Both of them looked at him. Dermot replied, "What's wrong with me?"

"Ms. Kyte called. She said you had a run-in with her and was worried about you," Todd explained.

Dermot sneered, letting go of the glass he was struggling with Craig over. "Worried about me? Does she think I'd feel bad because of her?"

Todd felt awkward, thinking, 'Aren't you feeling bad right now?'

Craig sensed something was off and asked Todd, "What's going on?"

Todd shook his head, confused. "I don't know. Ms. Kyte just called me out of the blue."

Craig thought for a moment and asked, "Did something happen?"

Todd then detailed the events of the past two days: Evelyn was kidnapped and rescued by Joshua, who might end up in a wheelchair for life.

Craig guessed why Dermot was upset. "Are you arguing with Evelyn because of Joshua's injury? Why?"

Dermot, irritated, replied, "It's nothing. Evelyn promised to take care of him for life."

Both Craig and Todd were stunned.

Now they got it.

"Ms. Kyte is really loyal," Todd sighed.

Dermot glared at him, so Todd quickly added, "But this is too much. How could he demand lifelong care just because he saved her?"

Todd continued, "I think Joshua is taking advantage of saving her to make things hard for her. She must have felt she had no choice."

Dermot started to agree. "You're right; Joshua isn't a good person."

If it were him, Dermot would never ask Evelyn to take care of him for life. He'd want her to be happy and stay away from him. Asking her to stay would be selfish.

"Exactly, Mr. Doyle. He's trying to drive a wedge between you and Ms. Kyte," Todd said.

Dermot nodded. "You make a good point."

Then Dermot stood up. "You guys chat; I'm leaving."

"Mr. Doyle, where are you going?" Todd asked, worried.

Dermot glanced back. "I'm going back to the hospital, not giving them a chance."

He wouldn't let Joshua have his way.

"Oh, okay." Todd nodded and followed. "Be careful."

Dermot left the private room, leaving Todd and Craig.

They had nothing much to talk about. Todd chuckled awkwardly, "Well, Mr. Irvine, I'll be going now."

"Yeah, keep an eye on Dermot. Who knows what he might do," Craig said. Even though their analysis made sense, the situation had already changed.

Evelyn still had to stay by Joshua's side, unable to be with Dermot. That alone would be hard for Dermot to accept.

Todd nodded. "Okay."

Todd also left the private room.

Craig looked at the empty room and smiled bitterly. In the end, he was the only one left.

He tilted his head back, drank a glass of wine, then got up and left. He wasn't going to stay here drinking alone.
