Chapter 876 He Has No Evidence

Dermot couldn't help but chuckle, wondering, 'Why does Evelyn look like she islistening to a bedtime story?'

Even though he found it amusing, he laid out his plan in detail, conveniently leaving out that Joshua's men were involved. He just said they were his own. A promise was a promise.

When Dermot finished, Evelyn's face turned serious.

"So, you sent someone to kill Gerald, right?" she asked.

"Yep," Dermot replied.

"Was that really necessary?" Evelyn frowned, still trying to wrap her head around it.

She knew the Doyle family's succession battle was intense, but she thought it was just about outmaneuvering each other, not outright murder.

Dermot got what she meant. He sighed. "It looks like a move that Otis initiated against me, but I assume you know Gerald was actually the mastermind behind it, right?"

Evelyn nodded. That didn't surprise her; Otis and Gerald were definitely in cahoots.

"At first, I thought it was just Gerald and Otis, but the fact they used guns makes me think Randy must have given the nod. Otherwise, they wouldn't dare to use guns so openly in Golombia."

Actually, Dermot was 100% sure, but he didn't want to sound too certain in front of Evelyn.

Evelyn was momentarily shocked, but it made sense.

Without Randy's consent, Gerald and Otis wouldn't have gone that far.

Thinking it over, she found Dermot's actions reasonable. "The Doyle family is really a mess."

Not just a mess, but ruthless, with no family loyalty.

"Yeah, families like the Kyte family, where there's just a bit of infighting, are actually rare." Not just the Doyle family but any of the top ten families had chaotic internal struggles.

Evelyn sighed, feeling lucky to be born into the Kyte family. Despite Dora and Lucia causing trouble, nothing major happened. Blake had always protected her, and taking over the Kyte family had been almost effortless.

Not dwelling on it further, she asked Dermot, "But with Gerald dead, aren't you afraid Randy will find out? I doubt he'll just let it go."

Even though things seemed calm, she felt it was the calm before the storm, and something big was bound to happen.

"What's there to be afraid of? As long as he can't find the people who did it, what evidence does he have to pin it on me? You have to know that when his son died, I was almost killed by his grandson. Otis is my best witness." If it weren't for this witness, Dermot wouldn't have taken the risk.

Evelyn asked, "Do you think Randy will buy that?"

Randy was no fool. Even with a witness, Dermot was still a suspect. After all, with Gerald dead, there were only two beneficiaries, and Dermot was one of them.

Dermot didn't care and smiled. "Whether he believes it or not doesn't matter. As the head of the Doyle family, even if he thinks I'm the killer, so what? He still needs evidence. Otherwise, everyone in the Doyle family would be on edge."

He continued, "Besides, the Doyle family has so many rivals. With so many eyes on him, he wouldn't dare act recklessly."

Sometimes, what seemed like a small matter could become a big headache if someone found out it was you who did it.
