Chapter 1091: Did You Change My Clothes for Me
Dermot was out on the balcony, lighting up a smoke.
He wasn't really a chain smoker, but right now, his mind was such a mess that it felt like the only thing that might help.
His eyes drifted to the big bed in the bedroom, where Evelyn was already out cold. He sighed and crushed the cigarette.
Sitting by the bed, he looked at the sleeping Evelyn and couldn't help but reach out to touch her cheek. "Evelyn, are you really gonna go abroad with Joshua?"
If she did, it was pretty much game over for them.
But she didn't answer, so he pulled his hand back.
Luckily, he had some dirt on Joshua. Once Evelyn knew the truth, she wouldn't keep falling for his crap.
That night, maybe 'cause she was drunk, Evelyn slept like a baby.
As for Dermot, he was in bed but barely got a wink of sleep.
He was worried something might go sideways.
Over at the hospital, Joshua wasn't sleeping great either.
Evelyn didn't show up to take care of him like she did the day before. He knew it was 'cause he dropped the bomb about going abroad, and she was struggling with it.
So, he didn't call her, just waited for her to sort it out.
Sunlight streamed into the bedroom. Evelyn rubbed her eyes and looked around the unfamiliar room, not getting it at first.
That's when Dermot walked in. Seeing her sitting up, he came over. "Morning. You feeling okay?"
She had drunk a lot last night, so a headache was probably in the cards.
"No," Evelyn shook her head and then asked, "Why am I here?"
"You got wasted last night, and Ruby asked me to bring you back." No way was he taking her to Joshua's place, so he brought her to his.
Evelyn nodded but couldn't help but grumble inside.
She got drunk, and Ruby didn't take her home but called Dermot instead.
"Get up, breakfast's ready," Dermot said, clueless about her thoughts. "There are clothes for you in the closet."
"Okay." Evelyn got out of bed and realized she was in pajamas. She looked at Dermot, horrified. "Did you change my clothes?"
"Yeah, you planned to sleep in those booze-soaked clothes?" He couldn't stand it, so he changed her.
Evelyn's cheeks went red, and she glared at him. "You shouldn't have changed my clothes."
"Why so shy? It's not like I haven't seen you before." Dermot raised an eyebrow, reminding her of their one night together.
Evelyn's face went even redder. "Get out, get out. I need to change."
That time was a spur-of-the-moment thing, but she didn't regret it now.
Dermot grinned and left, even though he loved seeing her all flustered.
After he left, Evelyn walked to the wardrobe and opened it, finding it full of new women's clothes, all with the tags still on.
For some reason, a warm feeling washed over her.
She knew Dermot had prepared all this.
He seemed careless, but he was actually more thoughtful than anyone.
But soon, Evelyn's smile faded.
She remembered Joshua's proposal from yesterday. How was she gonna break it to Dermot?
If Dermot found out, he'd definitely lose it.
