Chapter 1019: Are You Saying He Might Be Faking It

Walking out of Joshua's villa, Dermot's face changed.

Joshua's refusal to let Leon check his injury was unexpected. Turning to Leon, he said, "Can you stay in Golombia a few more days?"

Leon nodded. "Sure, I haven't been to Libertonia in a while. I'll do some sightseeing and relax."

Leon didn't mind. He glanced at Dermot and asked, "Why was Mr. Garcia so against my examination?"

"Yeah, but it's a personal issue between us," Dermot replied.

Leon smiled, thinking about Joshua's condition. "I haven't examined him thoroughly, but something seems off."

"Oh? What do you mean?" Dermot stopped and looked at Leon.

"From the medical records you showed me, Mr. Garcia's injuries should be severe. Even if he could sit in a wheelchair, he shouldn't move as freely as he did today," Leon said.

Dermot realized the situation was more complicated than he thought. He had told Evelyn that Joshua was avoiding the exam out of frustration. But now, with Leon's words, Dermot suspected there might be more to Joshua's injuries.

"Are you saying his injuries might not be as bad as we thought?" Dermot asked.

"It's hard to say for sure. There's a chance, but we need to examine him to be certain. He might have just recovered exceptionally well," Leon explained.

Leon hinted at a possibility, but to Dermot, it felt like a certainty.

Dermot thought, 'Joshua, it seems you've been faking it all along.'

He even wondered if Evelyn's so-called kidnapping had been orchestrated by Joshua from the start. What was his true intention?

As Dermot thought about Evelyn moving into Joshua's villa, it hit him: if Joshua kept pretending to need a wheelchair, Evelyn would have to care for him indefinitely. That was likely his real goal.

Dermot couldn't let Evelyn be deceived. He had to expose Joshua's scheme.

While he was thinking this, Joshua sat in his study with a grim expression. "Find out who Leon is and see if we can settle this with money," he ordered.

He could refuse the exam today, but knowing Dermot's persistence, he wouldn't drop it easily.

Moreover, Evelyn would insist on the exam too. Avoiding it wasn't a long-term solution.

"Okay," Brandon agreed.

Joshua asked, "Do you think Dermot might have discovered something? Why else would he bring a doctor so quickly?"

Brandon frowned. "Probably not. We did everything secretly this time, and we even had doctors from Golombia Hospital covering for us. There shouldn't be any problems."

Despite Brandon's words, Joshua was still uneasy.

At that moment, there was a knock on the study door. Joshua said calmly, "Come in."

Evelyn pushed the door open and saw Joshua and Brandon in the study. "Joshua, I want to talk to you."

"Okay, you can go out first," he said to Brandon.

Brandon nodded, glancing at Evelyn before leaving the study.

After he left, Evelyn walked to Joshua's side. "Joshua, are you okay?"

"I'm fine. What do you want to talk about? Is it about Dermot?" Joshua asked, already guessing what Evelyn wanted to say.
