Chapter 1208: Who Made You Upset
Cassie bit her lip, feeling all kinds of reluctant but knowing she couldn't push it. She didn't want to piss Dermot off even more, so she just bailed.
She wasn't exactly a business whiz, and she hadn't really been involved in the Bush Group's stuff. The only reason she was there to sign a contract with Dermot was to have an excuse to see him.
But man, she didn't think it would be this awkward.
After Cassie left, Dermot called Todd in. "Dig into the Bush family. I need to know how Leonard came back from the dead and rejoined the Bush clan."
"Got it, Mr. Doyle." The fact that Cassie and Leonard were back with the Bush family was mind-blowing, not just for Dermot but for Todd too.
Todd had seen Leonard die saving Dermot. If that was all a sham, then Dermot's years of looking out for Cassie were a total joke.
He knew Dermot was fuming, but weirdly, Dermot's face didn't show it.
Todd figured this might be the upside of having a girlfriend. Evelyn was the one who could keep Dermot in check. Spending so much time with her had mellowed him out a bit.
Over at Kyte Manor, everything was back to normal, no sign of the earlier chaos.
Evelyn was chilling on the couch, scrolling through her phone when she saw a Facebook update from Cassie. Since Cassie left Moris City, she hadn't posted anything.
Curious, Evelyn clicked on it and went silent when she saw the post.
[Hey, Dermot. No matter what my status is now, I'll always be Cassie to you. Hope the Doyle Group and Bush Group partnership goes well.]
The post had a pic of Dermot's back and a selfie of Cassie.
Evelyn stared at it, her brows knitting together.
Cassie was back.
From her words, it seemed like Cassie's status had changed.
So, the thing Dermot mentioned was meeting Cassie.
Evelyn wanted to laugh, but she couldn't.
She thought that after sorting out Nathaniel's mess, everything would be smooth sailing, and she could live happily with Dermot.
But now, Cassie popped up out of nowhere, and from her words, Evelyn could sense some serious competition.
Was she trying to steal Dermot?
Realizing this, Evelyn suddenly found everything pretty dull.
With this never-ending drama, when would she ever get some peace?
In just a few minutes, Evelyn even thought about what her life would be like if she broke up with Dermot.
Right then, Dermot called. Evelyn hesitated but picked up. She wanted to see what kind of BS Dermot would feed her.
"Evelyn, you done at Kyte Manor? I'll come get you," Dermot said, sounding all calm like nothing happened.
Evelyn felt a surge of annoyance and snapped, "Go back? Go where? This is my home. Why should I go back with you?"
Her words left Dermot momentarily stunned.
"What's wrong, Evelyn? Who ticked you off?" Dermot asked gently.
But Evelyn wasn't a kid. His tone didn't calm her down; it just made her more pissed.
