Chapter 348 I Won't Let You Off Easy

The two of them ate in silence, and the atmosphere wasn't very pleasant.

Finally, they finished their meal and walked out of the restaurant, looking at the night scenery. Marina couldn't lift her mood no matter what.

"Eve, do you have some free time? Can you accompany me for a walk?" She turned to the person beside her, hoping to have someone by her side to make her feel less lonely.

Evelyn nodded. "Okay."

The two walked along the riverbank, with a gentle breeze lifting their hair.

"What are your plans for the future?" Evelyn suddenly asked Marina, striking up a casual conversation.

Marina thought she was referring to their marriage, so she forced a bitter smile and replied, "What plans can I have? I'll just pretend he doesn't exist and do whatever I want."

"I'm asking about your plans in terms of medicine. Do you have any intentions to continue your studies?" Evelyn clarified.

Marina was taken aback, then embarrassedly chuckled before answering, "I did have plans to pursue a postgraduate degree, but now..."

The sudden bankruptcy of the Peterson family was going to disrupt all of her plans.

"What about now? Whether married or not, you can still do what you love," Evelyn said, stopping and looking at her with a serious expression. "Marina, I hope you don't give up on your passion."

Moved by Evelyn's gaze, Marina nodded. "Okay, I won't give up. I hope that one day, I can become as impressive as you, Eve."

Evelyn was her idol, even before they met. And after getting to know her, Marina admired her even more.

"Keep it up," Evelyn encouraged her, relieved to see her smile.

As they were talking, a figure suddenly emerged from the woods.

A gleaming knife was pointed at them, and Robert's face came into Evelyn's view.

"Robert, what are you doing?" Evelyn instinctively protected Marina behind her, not overly worried.

After all, with her skills, Robert couldn't touch her at all.

Robert sneered, pointing the knife at Evelyn. "You vile woman! You ruined me, and I won't let you get away with it!"

The afternoon news had already been broadcasted, and there was widespread online contempt for him. Some even tried to attack him at his doorstep. Unable to find John, he naturally vented his anger on Evelyn.

He wanted to kill this woman!

"I'll give you a chance. Drop the knife and get lost, and I can pretend tonight never happened." After all, he was John's father, and Evelyn decided to give Robert a chance for his sake.

After all, sending someone to jail would have a great impact on John.

But how could Robert listen to Evelyn? Hearing her words, he thought she was scared and laughed triumphantly.

"I'll give you a chance too. If you kneel down and beg me, I can let you off the hook," he said with a smirk, his face full of satisfaction, as if he could really see Evelyn kneeling down and begging him.

Evelyn's expression changed slightly; she knew that saying anything was useless now.

Turning back, she instructed Marina, "Stay here and don't run around."

Marina acknowledged but was busy saying, "Eve, let's run."

"Run?" Robert sneered upon hearing that, holding the knife close. "I'll see where you can run to!"

"Eve, be careful!" Marina exclaimed in fear, watching Robert lunge towards them with the knife.
